Draco hung out a lot with the trio. Hermione and Draco had become very good friends and study buddies. Ron and Draco still didn't get along very well but they bickered much less and they tried their best to be nice to each other, to please Harry and Hermione.
Weeks passed and it soon became Christmas.
Hermione, Ron, Neville, George, Luna, Ginny, Fred, Pansy and Crabbe all went home for Christmas.
Harry and Draco were the only ones who stayed in school.
Draco didn't want to return home as long as his father didn't do something about his drinking problem. He sent a letter to his father with Harry's help.
Dear father,
I'm not coming home this Christmas. I can't do this anymore. Your drinking problem is getting too bad. Something needs to change and I won't come back until this is resolved. I will miss you very much but I have to protect myself. Please father, seek help, this is not only destroying you, but me and mom as well. She may not admit it, but she's been crying every night since you've been drinking and it hurts to hear it. I know you don't mean it wrong, but it's starting to get too bad.
Tell Mom I miss and love her.
Sincerely,
Draco Lucius Malfoy
Harry stayed at school because he didn't want to leave Draco alone. Even though the Weasleys had invited him for Christmas.
Molly had sent him a letter inviting him, but he kindly declined the invitation.
He had explained to her that he is staying at school with Draco because Draco didn't go home due to home problems.
She replied with a friendly letter explaining that she fully understood but that she would miss him. And she said she would send his sweater.
Harry would miss her too, but he wanted to stay with Draco.
After much nagging, Draco was allowed to sleep in Harry's dorm. There were no Slytherin and Gryffindor boys who stayed in school over Christmas anyway.
Professor McGonagall arranged for a mattress for Draco, but that mattress was never used, of course, as Draco preferred to sleep cuddled up with Harry.
"Ready to go home?" Harry asked Ron as he entered the Great Hall with his trunk.
"Yes, I'm going miss you, it's not the same without you."
"I'm going to miss you too, I'll write you okay?"
Ron nodded.
At that moment, Hermione entered the Great Hall. "Hey guys, ready for Christmas?"
"Yes." Ron and Harry said at the same time.
"I will miss you." She put her arms around Harry.
"I will miss you too." Harry said. "But you know why I'm not coming with you."
"Yes, but still, it's not the same without you." Hermione said.
"It'll be fine Mione, you have Ginny, Ron and the twins and I'll write you."
"Okay, bye Harry." She took hold of her trunk. "Watch him carefully!" She called to Draco.
"Will be okay, don't worry!" Draco said smirking from his seat at the nearly empty Slytherin table.
"As if I can't watch myself!" Harry said pretending to be offended.
Hermione chuckled. "I'll see you after the Christmas holidays Harry." She waved to Harry and left the Great Hall with Ron.
The Gryffindor table was completely empty.
Harry hesitated for a moment, but then decided he didn't care that the other two Slytherins, who also stayed at school, wouldn't like it when he joined the Slytherin table for dinner. He got up and sat down next to Draco.
"Hi there." Draco said with a smirk. "Are there no Gryffindors left?"
"Nope, they all went home."
"What a shame, now you have to join us."
"I know, it's awful." Harry said with a smirk.
Draco rolled his eyes and chuckled.
In the evening around ten o'clock, the boys went to bed.
Harry took off his T-shirt and was about to put on his pajama shirt when Draco pinned it against the wall.
Draco looked deep into his eyes, full of passion and lust.
Harry felt his heart beat faster.
Draco pressed his lips on Harry's and kissed him calmly and patiently.
Harry slowly closed his eyes and kissed Draco back.
After a while the kiss intensified.
Harry put an arm around Draco's waist and pulled him closer.
Draco began to toss gently through Harry's hair, making him moan.
He opened his mouth and Draco's tongue slipped in.
After a long time they let go in need of breath.
Harry rested his head against Draco's chest and listened to his heart beating fast. This was going to be the best holiday ever.
