hiii CW: discussion of child abuse

♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡

Dear Robyn,

I am very disappointed in you. A lady does not fight with fists, she fights with words.

You will not be in another physical fight ever again. Our family does not need such embarrassment.

Next time this Violet girl angers you, you will either ignore her, or at least be subtle in whatever you do, please. Not in front of the entire school. I'm sure the next Ladies Auxiliary meeting will be filled with unfortunate questions about your behaviour and where you learned it from. So, please, spare me the hassle next time.

You are lucky your father is very charming and just so happens to be above Mr Runcorn in the ministry, and as such you have not been expelled or even excluded.

You are also lucky he has been particularly busy lately. Otherwise, he might not have been so dismissive of your behaviour.

If you must insist upon misbehaving, do not get caught.

Regards,

Mother

On her way to double Defence Against the Dark Arts first thing on Tuesday, Robyn was ambushed by two boys. Two ginger boys. Two identical ginger boys.

"There she is!"

"The woman of the hour!"

"The woman of the year!"

"The woman of the century!"

"Weasleys," she greeted blandly, hoping it would dissuade them from continuing.

It didn't. They kept going on until she came to a halt to glare at them.

"Did you need something?"

They both nodded enthusiastically.

"Why, we've come to give kudos to Your Royal Highness, of course."

"If we had hats on, we'd take them off out of respect."

"Shame we don't."

"Don't we, shame."

"Right..." she said uncertainly, beginning to walk again. They walked on either side of her. "Why, exactly, have you deemed me worthy of respect? I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or not."

"She jokes, she does."

"Does she, jokes?"

"She does."

"That doesn't even make sense."

"Well, let us explain, Dylan Junior..."

"...You've only gone and walloped Gunnar Rowle in the face, haven't you?"

Oh. She understood now.

"I suppose I have done," she said, holding back a triumphant smile.

"She supposes!" they cheered simultaneously.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Gred?"

"I think I'm thinking what you're thinking, Forge."

"I think I'm thinking what you're thinking I'm thinking—"

"Please," she interrupted before they could continue, "it's nine in the morning. Please."
