Day Five

Robyn had spent over an hour the previous night just staring up at the ceiling, thinking. Thinking about so many things. But not everything. No, there were certain things she was stubbornly avoiding, and would continue to stubbornly avoid for as long as she could.

What she was pondering was the strange vision. The disturbing aura of whatever the high-pitched voice came from. What they and the two men were going to do after the World Cup. Who were the men? What was that thing talking to them? Because there was certainly something inhuman about it. And they had treated it with reverence – 'My Lord', they had called it.

The only 'Lord' she could think of was...the Dark Lord.

It was that realisation that made her hesitate to tell her father. Because the Dark Lord wasn't exactly a light topic to bring up in casual conversation. She didn't want to bring him up at all.

So, she'd maintain the status quo and stay quiet like she had for the past two years.

She hoped that was the right thing to do.

"Up! Up! No, down!"

Right. She was in the middle of a game of 'Pac-Man'. Hermione had taken her to the arcade today.

"Cyan's going to cut you off! Go left!"

"Shh, I'm concentrating!" Robyn hissed at Hermione, who was watching the tense game. Well, it wasn't tense, not really, because Robyn wasn't very good at it.

No one's perfect.

But she'd got to level three now and was beginning to get a little too stressed from this game—

"Watch out!"

"Bloody red thing! Ugh."

She slapped the screen, irritated, and moved away from the game. The stupid game.

"Stupid game," she muttered, scuffing her feet on the retro patterned carpet.

"Well- hey, it's fine. We can play something else."

Hermione took her elbow and pulled her towards another machine. This was one entitled 'Dig Dug'.

"If this is like the last one, I'm not playing. I don't need the stress."

"It's different! You won't know if you like it until you try," insisted Hermione. "So just try."

"All right! I'll try."

She slipped her 20p coin into the slot and the screen lit up. The game started, and it was—

"This is exactly like 'Pac-Man'!" she complained and stopped moving her character who had been emitting a strange tune. She turned to glare at Hermione, who reached over her to move the little man for her.

"It's not! You need to blow them up- look!" Hermione blew up one of the enemies, trying to encourage Robyn to give it another go.

"No."

"Come on—"

"No."

"Don't waste your money," Hermione snapped impatiently.

"I'm not—"

"You are."

"Hermione, I don't know if you've realised, but—"

"Yeah, you're rich. Whatever."

"Okay. So, it's only 25p—"

"25p wasted!"
