Lydia and JJ talked for what seemed like hours. "You want a drink?" JJ asks trying to change the subject. "I don't drink, or smoke" she says in a inocent voice. "Then what the hell is your escape!?" he chuckles. She sighs looking down a Rocket, "I don't"
"Well come hang with us! I'm sure Kie would like to have a girl around" he suggests. "I can't, I play the mom role remember" she jokes. JJ looks at her eyes, he was awfully good at reading people but she was just blank, like... emotionless?
Lydia blankly stares at him inspecting his eye and busted lip "is that the worst he's done?"
"Oh this?" he laughs pointing to his face. "That's just a jab" Lydia who's full of questions asks him what's the worst he's done. "Probably broken ribs, or this" he tells her pointing to a scar on his side. "What about you?"
Lee gulps, she was open about her life, but she never told anyone this. She looks at the large scar that runs down her thigh. "When my mom left.... when she left my dad got mad and took a piece of glass and ran it down my leg. It definitely should've gotten stitches" she informs the teen, rolling up her shorts slightly so he could see the whole thing. "Sorry I overshared it's jus-"
"Lee I-"
"It's ok"
Throughout their talk JJ had inched his way closer to her. His large arm wraps around her. He could tell she was upset "don't tell anyone I'll be dead meat"
"I won't" he replies with a smile. Lydia wrest her head on the boys shoulder, she never really trusted men but this was different. She felt safe around JJ like no one was gonna hurt her.
The next morning
"Bye Finn see you after school!" she waves to her younger brother as he steps on the bus. "You want something to eat Fia?" She asks the toddler.
"Pancakes!!" the little girl giggles as she skips into the house. It hurt Lyd knowing that Fia didn't know what was going on.
Lydia makes the small girl pancakes when someone knocks on the door. She opens it expecting it to be new neighbors or something but to her surprise the blonde boy she had met the day before was standing there.
"Are you a stalker or something?" She laughs as JJ steps inside. "No no no you can't come in my sisters here and she'll tell my dad" Lydia says frantically pushing him back. "Tell daddy what? That there's a boy here!?" A small squeaky voice comes from behind her. Lee groans "you can come in now" she says rolling her eyes as JJ steps in with a smile.
"Who are you?" Sofia asks him. JJ crouches down so he's closer to her hight "my names JJ, now you don't tell your daddy I was here ok?" JJ tells the small girl. "Ok!" She says happily frolicking away.
Lee smiles at the 2, Fia hadn't been around a lot of people in her short life time. "Well what brings you here Mr Maybank?" she laughs. "I have nothing better to do, John B, Pope and Kie went to school so I'm bored" JJ replies flopping down on a chair.
He grabs a piece of Sofia's pancakes throwing it into his mouth. "Stop it!" She says slapping his hand "it's not for you" Jj rolls his eyes in response.
Lyd sees Sofia with a crown behind JJ and she plops it on his head. "You're pretty like me now!" She giggles cause she also has one. Lee smiles at them, JJ was very good with kids to her surprise.
"Well thank you m'lady" JJ jokes in a accent. "You're welcome!" She squeaks while adjusting the crown upon his blonde hair. Butterfly's swirl around Lees stomach 'no no no' she thinks to herself 'i can't be liking any boys'
JJ and Lee talk for a bit before the front door opens "shit! Go out the back door now!" Lee whispers to the boy who doesn't move "I mean it!" she says again but it was far to late.
"Who the hells this?" her dad asks "I'm JJ sir, I shou-"
"I don't give a fuck what you have to say" he scoffs inching his way to Lee. "Dad I'm sorry he's just a friend" she mumbles as her heartbeat increases and breath quickens. "Please I'm sorry..."
Her dad grabs her neck and throws her to the ground in one quick movement. JJ who's quick to react immediately punched him repeatedly. "JJ stop!" She cries pulling Sofia into her arms.
JJ pulls away from her father who's now on the ground hunched over in pain. "JJ..." she says once again.
"Let's go I'm not leaving you to here"
