21. Time Flys

JJs quick to sit up and his eyes land directly on Rafe. "keeping my daughter from me?" he smirks while inching closer. "she's not yours Rafe" JJ protectively spits out while pulling Raelyn into his arms and standing up.

"Cmon Maybank no reason to get protective I just wanna say hi"

Here's the thing with Rafe, he acted like he wasn't gonna do anything and then... bam. "beside we live on a small island JJ, what goes around comes around. I know she's my daughter" the brunette devilishly smiles.

God did he just wanna just beat the ego out of him but he knew better than that, especially with the baby. "she's only your daughter because you fucked Lee without consent. Go get a life Rafe and stay away from my daughter" JJ spats letting a lot of built up emotions release.

Rafe scoffs before walking away. JJ sighs while sitting back down and letting Rae go back to playing in the water and sand. "stay away from him Raelyn... I don't want you getting hurt"

Of course the small child doesn't understand one word but for some reason it just helped talking to her. Despite feeling dumb it comforted him to just talk to her.

Raelyn crawls up to JJ "can I have kisses?" he asks while puckering his lips as the little girls kisses him. "you wanna go see mama?" he smiles and Rae giggles in response. "ok let's go baby"

JJ scoops her up in his arms and spins her around which makes her start dying of laughter. He was the happiest when she laughed, it was like all his problems melted away.

Once they arrive home Rae instantly reaches for Lee "Did you have fun baby girl?" she smiles while pushing hair out of her face. Ever since Raelyn was little shed had a mop of hair. "we um, we ran into Rafe" JJ says. He never kept anything from Lee besides when he would steal her food but this is different.

"well what did he do?" Lydia questions while sipping her water. "just said some bullshit but he's gone and didn't touch either of us" JJ smiles while leaning in and kissing Lydia. Rae screams as she's not getting enough attention for her liking "you're gonna hate having siblings" JJ chuckles.

"Siblings?"

"I- I mean if you want" he scratches the back of his head "I do want more kids" Lydia smiles "just in the far future"

Time fucking flys man it's crazy. JJ and Lee are shit, 18 with a 9 month old. That's hella crazy. They loved Rae so so so much but JJ and Lee missed the old times. While the pogues where out partying at keg gets they where always home with the baby. Neither of them would change fate and not have her but they felt kinda left out sometimes.

4 months later

Chemo. Definitely not something you ever wanna go through but for Rae it had become part of her weekly life. They got the the hospital and she gets her chemo before they go home and cuddle on the couch. Rae says some small words like "hi" "bye" "mama" "dada" and she can walk which is terrifying.

JJ holds her next to him while she gets her meds "you're a tough cookie" he smiles. The hardest part about her chemo was when all her hair started falling out. Rae had a massive head of hair from the start so watching it go made them sad. JJ got to bring Raelyn to the hospital alone today while Lee did work.

Lydia felt awful not being there but she knew JJ didn't mind. "dada" she looks up at him with a smile "yes princess?" he chuckles. Raelyn puckers her lips which is her way of asking for a kiss, she'd picked that up from Lee. "mwah!" JJ laughs while kissing her. She squeals in response while continuously laughing.

No one was sure how someone so young could be this positive during something like this. Raelyns laugh was the most contagious thing you'd ever experience. "I love you Rae Rae" he smiles.
