That night Rae was in a lot of pain. JJ and Lee did whatever they could to comfort her but nothing seemed to work. Raelyn cuddles into Lee, she knew Rae was scared. I mean she didn't know what was going on or why she felt so sick.
"it's ok to be scared Rae" she whispers to the little girl. "even daddy gets scared" she continues with a smile while looking up at JJ.
He kisses the top of her head "but daddy never acts scared?" Raelyn questions while looking up.
JJ sighs and rubs her back "daddy does get scared, everyone does"
That was the first time JJ ever admitted being scared in front of Lee or Rae. JJ had grown a lot as a person since Rae was born, he definitely wasn't the same rebellious teen she'd fell in love with. He was a responsible young man who was a child at heart, and Lee loved it.
A few tears run down her cheeks and she rolls over so she's cuddled into JJ. Raelyn finally gets tired enough to sleep through the pain and she drifts off to sleep.
"I don't think she has longer left...." Lee's voice cracks while pushing the little hair she has out of her eyes. JJ looks up at Lee and readjusted them so he has both of them in his arms.
"she has the best life any kid could ask for, and in my opinion that's better than a long shitty one"
He had a point, not one she wanted to think about. Loosing your child is something every parent prays they never have to go through. They're living the nightmare.
Lydia falls asleep in the comfort of JJs arms but he lays away. JJ had hardly slept or eaten in days, this was ripping him in two.
They where all scared, scared of whats happening, and whats to come.
Many hours later JJ finally falls asleep to the sound of his girls breathing which happened to be one of the few things that comforted him.
The next day Rae wakes up in a surprisingly good mood. She had days where she couldn't move and other days all she wanted to do was play. Today happened to be a day where she felt good so they decided to go down to the beach one last time.
Lee and JJ knew this was gonna be the last time she was strong enough to do anything so they made the best of it.
JJ carried her down to the water "i'm gonna dunk you!!" he joking threatens while running into the water. "no daddy!" she shrieks while clinging onto his body. Lee watches them with a laugh as he holds her in the cool ocean water.
"I wanna stay at the ocean forever!" she giggles as JJ spins her around. JJ looks over at Lee then back at Rae "you can baby girl" he smiles.
After a few hours Raelyn began to get tired again so they went home knowing it'd most likely be the last time she could leave the house.
As they're laying her down Lee's phone starts ringing. "why the fuck is the hospital calling me?" she groans while answering.
JJ watches in confusion as Lee's expression constantly change. "oh my gosh! thank you so much you have no idea how much this means!!" she smiles before hanging up the phone and looking at JJ.
"she has a fighting chance..."
