19. A series of unfortunent events

2 days later

Lydias phone starts ringing at around 6 am. "shut the fuck up" JJ groans but quickly enough Rae wakes up. Lee sits up and answers the phone while JJ tends to the baby.

"Hello?"

"Hi this is Raelyns surgeon, we have the results back on her tumor" the doctor starts "it came back as stage 1 liver cancer. Unfortunately enough we can't start treatment until she's at least 1, but her survival rate is very high"

That absolutely broke Lee, she looks up and watches JJ rock her back and fourth while calming her down. "O-oh um ok, how much would that cost" Lydia asks which grabs JJs attention. "it'll all be covered for the first year, after that we can go from there"

"Ok, thank you for letting me know"

Lee quickly hangs up the phone after an awkward goodbye. Tears flow down her face and JJ comes and sits next to her. "she has... stage 1 liver cancer, but she can't get treated until she's 1"

JJ looks down at his little daughter with her fluffy brown hair and green eyes. They both sit there in a puddle of tears. "I love you Rae Rae" JJ whispers while holding her close. Lydia pulls her out of JJs arms and kisses the top of her head.

The blonde boys muscular arms wrap around them both. JJ and Lyd both know that the next few months are gonna be a series of unfortunate events as they watch her get sicker.

Raelyn stirs before looking up at them with her bright green eyes and personality that already matches JJs. The baby immediately looks directly at JJ "she's a daddy's girl" Lee smiles while wiping JJs tears with her sleeve. JJ softly laughs to himself as they lay back down with Rae in between them.

After a few minutes of calming down and wiping away tears they all fall back asleep together. As a family of 3...

A few hours later Lydia wakes up to find herself alone in bed. She quickly gets up and finds JJ playing with Raelyn on the living room floor. Raes laying on the floor and JJs hover above her making weird faces as John B watches in pure confusion.

"what are you doing?" Lee giggles "trying to make her laugh" JJ smiles while making a weird face. Lydia sighs while patting JJ on the back "babies don't laugh until 12 weeks bub"

JJ just ignores her and goes back to playing with her. She couldn't bare the thought of how sick Rae actually was, I mean she looked fine! Like a normal baby, but she's not... she's sick.

Lee plops down next to John B and wrest her head on his shoulder. Her and John B where close so JJ never cared, he trusted John B with his life and his family.

"she has stage 1 liver cancer and can't get treatment until she's 1" Lee blurts out to John B as she holds her tears back. The brunette boy doesn't say anything he just wraps his arms around Lee and watches as JJ tries to ignore the thought.

John B knew how much pain it brought them even if the weren't showing it, especially JJ. He acts like such a tough guy but he knows that at the end of the day he's sitting at the beach crying to himself.
