Every parents worst nightmare, hearing that there's nothing left. You can't help your kid, and they're going to die. The ride home is full of tears and a very confused kid.
When they get home they sit on the couch with Rae cuddled between them. "daddy" she says while placing her hand on JJs cheek. "why are you crying?"
How the hell do you tell a child that they're dying?
You can't.
"Daddy has... a umm, a boo boo" he smiles while frantically wiping away his tears. Lee kisses the top of Raes head while fiddling with JJs hand. "I'll kiss it better!!" she giggles while kissing JJs cheek. That kid was a life changer... and a fighter.
JJ brings her outside and they run around and play while trying to forget about everything. "hey! Where's my hair!?" she says while tapping her head and furrowing her eyebrows. JJ can't help but laugh a little. "It's gonna grow bub don't worry" he smiles at the thought of her thick brown hair she once had.
The little girl runs around and Lee hugs JJ from behind. "she's just like you" she whispers into his ear while they watch her. "I think she's just like her mom" he says turning around so his warm breath hits her neck.
He leans in and kisses her and his hands slide down her waist so they sit on her hips. "JJ..." she whispers in which he laughs in response. This was definitely not a good moment to be making out but oh well.
"Watch me!" Raelyn giggles while trying to do a somersault that didn't totally work out for her but she still pops up "tada!!" She shrieks.
The couple laughs "good job baby" Lee smiles. It could take a few weeks.... or a few months, maybe even a few days before her health declines. But they're gonna make the best of it.
As the night continues they spend time with her, cuddling, watching tv, going on a walk etc. "let me see your teeth!" JJ says to make sure she actually brushed them. She smiles at him to show her teeth "seeeeee allllllll cleeeeannnn"
He chucks before walking her to her room as Lee follows close behind. Raelyn gets into bed and covers herself with her pink blanket. "Goodnight RaeRae" JJ smiles while kissing her head. "I love you"
Lydia says goodnight aswell before they make there way to their bedroom. The second Lee hits them bed sobs pour from her eyes. JJs arms wrap around as he chokes back tears himself. "JJ shes not gonna m-make it"
That was it, JJ breaking point. He was losing the light in his life, his little girl. They both cry together in each other's arms. Who knows how much time she had left, but it would never be enough.... ever.
Raelyn was biologically Rafes baby but she would always be JJs at heart. He loved that little girl more than anything in the whole wide world and so did Lee. These past 5 years have been rough.... but they wouldn't change a second of it if it meant they got even just one more minute with her.
After a lot of tears and pats on the back and not gonna lie... sex. They finally fall asleep, together, in each other's arms. Dreading the months to come.
