Arriving home with a baby was weird. over the past few months their lives had been so quiet, but now? Now they got woken up by a screaming baby every 2 hours of the night.
The pogues had come over to see them but the last time gave them each a letter.
"what's this kie?" Lee cocks an eyebrow. "i-it's from Rae we all got one... she said to wait until you had another baby to give it to you?" she shrugs. Rae was definitely a mind reader.
"o-oh"
After the pogues left JJ and Lee sit together with Iris laying on JJs chest fast asleep. "you ready?" JJ whispers. Lydia shoots him a nod before opening the envelope.
Lee's Letter
hey mom, if you're reading this I assume you had another kid. Ooo i have siblings now. Honestly i'm writing this at 3 am with no thoughts in mind. Me and dad just shaved my head and you agreed to let me stop chemo. I was just sick of the constant hospital trips and being sick, but i'm happy now! i can live a little. Don't keep being sad please, i'm not in pain anymore. Also don't bubble wrap that kid, let them go live their teen years and get drunk and kiss people. Let them do everything I couldn't.
I love you momma.
JJs Letter
Well hello there father dearest it's me your fabulous favorite daughter. You have another kid now, so uhh don't replace me. I'll always be your surfing buddy. (also teach the kid to surf so they're not lame) We just shaved my head and decided i'd stop chemo. It wasn't because I was giving up, I never gave up. Anyways my whole point of this letter is to tell you to not bubble wrap my sibling. Let them live and do all the shit I didn't get to do! And don't keep sulking over me I'm happy now I promise.
I love you dad.
Lydia cuddles into JJs side, she didn't cry, she didn't do anything just sat there. JJ on the other hand had a few tears running down his cheeks. With one hand on Iris's back and one arm wrapped around Lee he kisses the both of their heads.
Iris begins to stir and looks up at JJ. "you're sissy loved you my baby" he smiles warmly at her. Lydia picks her up and puts her between them.
"she's happy now Jay," Lydia whispers "she's out of pain" JJ flashes her a smile. "she is..."
Although she would always miss Realyn it gave her comfort.
Nothing ever felt right.
She's was always afraid.
But watching JJ with that little blonde haired baby who she already loved so much made her so happy. JJ was the best partner she could ever ask for. Yes he had his ups and downs but it's JJ what can you expect. Watching him play with Iris and have a genuine smile on her face made her realize something.
She's not afraid.
