26. Last Option

"w-what do you mean?"

"her cancer is in her abdomen. One of the best surgeons is here right now and he offered to do a surgery that could save her life"

JJ stands there in shock before hugging Lee tighter than he ever had. "but we have to go right now" she says in a very over joyed tone.

"what the fuck are we waiting for let's go!"

The young couple quickly packs bags and shoves them in the car. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was insane that they even hadn't his option especially because the hospital offered to pay.

Once everything's ready they put Rae in the car and drive off. Nobody knew is she'd make it through the surgery but if she did she'd be cancer free. It was a 12 hour surgery but there was no questions, they wanted to give her a shot.

When they arrive doctors tell them to say goodbye. It could be the last or it could be one of many more but nobody knew. JJ takes her hand and Lee takes the other as they walk her to the OR door before stopping to say goodbye.

"I love you princess, it's all gonna be ok" JJ whispers to her while stroking the side or her face. The little girl nods and looks at Lee "We're gonna be waiting for you when you're out of surgery, I love you Rae"

Raelyn grips onto Lee "Why can't you come with me?" she whimpers while starting to cry. Lydia chokes back tears to the best of her ability "we're gonna be right there when you wake up" she smiles before they push her away.

Lee began to cry but she wasn't sure if they where happy or sad or scared tears but she was sure that this was the best option.

Where they crazy for saying yes so quick?

Maybe.

Did they care?

Absolutely not.

Rae was their whole wide world and they weren't about to let down an opportunity to save their little girl.

Hour 1

JJ and Lee paced the hospital for awhile. Then got food. Then did that again and again and again. Stress eating is highly effective if you didn't know.

Hour 5

They'd gotten a few updates on her, she was doing fine and was stable. JJ wrest his head on Lee's shoulder and softly whispers "no matter what happens i'll never leave you"

Lydia looks down at him "I'll never leave you either Jay" she whispers back before he falls asleep.

Hour 12

Definitely the most anticipating hour of their life. The most complications happened on the last hour, the surgeons get tired and one slip could kill someone.

Ok well maybe that's not a fact but it damn well seems accurate. "Maybank?" a doctor says and they quickly stand up. Funny thing, Lee and JJ still hadn't gotten married. All of there money went to Rae, it didn't really bother them but it was kinda weird.

The doctor brings them to a room where Rae is laying. She was super groggy but half awake.

"hi baby" Lee smiles while tears come to her eyes. Rae was definitely a daddy's girl but loved Lee with her whole heart. "mommy?" the child quietly whispers while looking over.

"yes it's mommy, i'm right here. You're ok baby" she cries tears of joy. JJ takes her hand and rubs circles on her palm. "I'm so proud of you Rae Rae" his smiles while wiping away tears of his own.

that was it... her cancer was gone.

What could go wrong?
