31. Love you to the Moon and Back

1 week later

1 week, that's all it took. She's gone. She's not coming home.

The previous night she was taken away, and that was it.

Lydia walks into the kitchen to see JJ sobbing where she normally sat for breakfast. Up until the day she passed she insisted on sitting there. A small part of Lee thought that she'd find them there like normal.

JJs holding one of her old stuffed animals with tears pouring out of his eyes. Lee sits next to him, they cry, together, as a family.... -1.

You never realize how hard it is until it's really happening. Raelyn was apart of their lives for 15 years, you can't just brush that off.

"she's gone.... she's really really gone" he sobs. JJ never really showed emotions but this was different.

The night Rae died you'd think JJ was insane. He didn't cry, he didn't show any emotions. JJ just sat next to her cold body holding her hands until a truck came and took her away.

The previous night

"dad" Raelyn whispers at JJ who's by her side. She hadn't talked in about 2 days because of how weak she was. "I love you"

Those where her last words, the last bit of energy she had left was used to tell JJ she loved him. "I love you to the moon and back Rae Rae..." was the last thing she heard before letting out her last breath.

Lydia who had been talking a shower walked into the room. "she's gone Lee..."

She burst into tears while JJ holds her next to Raelyns body. Not one tear came out of him that night.... not one.

Present day

Lydias face digs into the crook of his neck. JJ feels her tears on his neck but he doesn't care. I'm fact he didn't have a care in the world right now besides Rae and Lee.

His two loves.

"I love you Lydia" JJ whispers "I love you so much" he continues to tell her. You never know when you're gonna die, so why not live in the moment. Tell the people you love that you love them.

"I love you to Jay"

After a lot of tears and reassuring words the couple parts ways. Lydia goes to Sarah's with Kie and JJ makes his may to John Bs with Pope.

JJs POV

"JJ dude... I'm sorry"

John B was never that good at comforting people, neither was Pope for that matter. "Just give me a fucking blunt" JJ huffs knowing that he definitely has some weed.

"Cmon man you know what that shits gonna do" Pope try's to stop him but JJ frantically runs around the chateau digging through old piles of crap.

"ya it's gonna zen me the fuck out just tell me where it is!"

Everyone was used to his antics but not like this. Pope stands up and grabs JJs shoulders, pulling him onto the couch. His shaky voice mumbles things to himself.

"she's gone, she's not coming back, she's gone..."

He repeats those words over and over until he eventually passes out of exhaustion.

Lydias POV

She finds herself laying between Kie and Sarah in a puddle of tears, they cried to it was hard for everyone. "I didn't get to tell her goodbye!" Lydia sobs. It was true, she didn't get to say goodbye.

"I didn't get to tell her that I love her..."

JJ had been at her side the whole time but she wasn't... she was in the fucking shower and she'd never forget it.

"She knew that you loved her Liddy" Kiara coos while stroking her hair. Sarah grabs her hand and wipes Lee's tears away. "You're her mom, she always knew it" the blonde says.

"she always knew it"

And that was the start to a shit ton of grief.

jk in all serious this book is almost over but i have a bunch of others to read :)
