"A Jewelled Army"
This is a poem for the women that I've loved.
May you love love,
love hard,
love longingly.
May you dash your ships
upon a jagged coastal wash
until its lines become smooth and bloodied,
gently curved and more yielding
to your love.
May the beaches be strewn with the shattered skins
of mollusks and clams
as the gulls seek pearls
with which to grace your hair.
You are to be strong;
a jewelled army, emboldened by the eating
of my flesh which you have broken and rationed,
marching forth
to conquer Rome.

AUTHOR'S NOTES
✫・゜・。.・。. ✭It is far easier to fall in love than it is to love. I have long recognized that I am not an easy person to love. The passion of my words, which seem so charming at the start, surely become biting, sharp, mere gnashing of teeth with proximity and time.
To those who have braved my heart, I salute you. To those who I've hurt, I apologize. To all of you, own the power of your beauty and the strength of your resolve. You are dazzling and mighty and deserve the world.
