"Grammar Lessons"

We talk at night,

our voices hushed,

the lights turned low,

our sentences forming a special grammar

that they've come to know.

We punctuate with kisses,

our mouths full of each other's commas, periods,

questions...

We embrace each other with our parentheses

and curl up as quotation marks –

reaching for each other

with every hyphen.

Every breath we hold becomes an ellipses,

every touch a hesitant apostrophe,

waiting

to be

returned.

The written form is naked and sensuous, ripe with ambiguities and heady with fertile glow. We exchange language like a fluids, the seed that stirs to life and love within the mind's own womb, giving birth to ideas that grow up, move out, and make their way into the world.
