"Drive"
I don't even remember who called who
but suddenly I could hear you
on the other end of a phone line,
crying...
I had never heard you cry before
and it was all I could do
to heed your words
and not jump in my car
and drive,
drive towards the sound
of your voice,
drive towards your beautiful face,
drive towards your sorrow
and comfort you there.
Nine months
and I had never heard you
cry
before.
