Context: Shortly after arriving in the country that would become their new home, the family prepares to celebrate a special holiday together.

---

Part of living in a new place meant acclimating to their ways of life.

Levi knew his family was already strange enough. He didn't want them to stick out like sore thumbs even more than they needed to by remaining ignorant to the ways of life of their new home.

That meant learning their customs, their holidays, everything.

In this... so-called advanced country, there were quite a few strange new holidays they'd needed to learn about. Fortunately for the Ackerman... er, no, the Ikeda family, the country they now found themselves citizens of happened to be quite popular with tourists.

Many travelers passed through the town they now called home and as such, to accommodate them, there were places to stop and grab brochures and pamphlets detailing local traditions and customs. That helped to teach them the most important of the celebrations and let them know all about the local festivals that would come to town with each passing year.

There was certainly a lot to learn. Onyankopon had been proving absolutely crucial and more than helpful in their move. Not only had he secured passage on a ship for them, but in the time that it took for their citizenship passes to be approved and shipped to them, he allowed the family to stay with him.

Onyankopon was treating his family as though they were their own. Levi wouldn't ever be able to properly express his gratitude for the man, nor did he think Onyankopon would even allow him to try.

It'd taken a lot of work but finally, in only a few short days they'd be able to move out of Onyankopon's home and into their own. The town they lived in now was beautiful. It was a peaceful country, Onyankopon made sure of that.

There was only enough military presence here to maintain community trust. The country was a strong ally to their neighbor to the north, which had an incredibly strong military. But hopefully they'd never have to see war come to this little coastal city in this peaceful little country.

It was known for its trade exports and the incredible bazaar and marketplaces lining the city close to the shorelines. In war, all the government would have to do is pledge its resources to its ally and war would overlook it. That was the hope, anyway. The people here were peaceful and not used to fighting, but they were no strangers to hard work.

After the Rumbling, all the people had come together to repair what had been destroyed. And the city was beautiful, even Levi had to admit that. Everywhere you looked, there was a pretty view. Onyankopon certainly spoiled them in bringing them here. Sure, it was where he lived before, but he could've very easily not offered his help or told them some other country.

They'd already picked out their new home, which was to be a small apartment situated above a shop. Their shop. Or... soon to be their shop. It was strange to think that finally, that one weird whim he had was coming true.

He honestly couldn't remember when exactly he'd even told Amaya that it was a dream of his to own a tea shop, but she'd remembered and took it to heart. Not to say it wasn't a dream of his, because it was, he just hadn't thought they'd ever actually get the chance to do it. But here they were. Finally doing it.

She was incredible.

It was... ahem. It was incredible. Everything. All of it.

"What's got you flustered, love?"

The voice came not from far away, but enough distance remained between them so that he couldn't reach out and flick her forehead for asking a stupid question. He turned his head, knowing that his usual deadpan look was in his eyes, but he knew damn well that she knew better than to think that he was really upset with her.
