Chapter 12

He snatched the letter when he saw her distracted by my questions. He ran to his room while opening the letter. I was curious to know who it was now. Due to the curiosity I completely forgot about the morning incidents. Just then my phone rang. I saw it was a friend of mine. We are not much close, but we are friends. I picked up the call. 

Friend: Hey Avu. 

Avu: Hello, tu ro rahi thi kya? { Hello, were you crying?}

Friend: Wo meri behen  bahut bimar hai, aur ab doctor bol rahe hai ki kuch hi din aur hai uske paas. Use stroke hua hai. Sorry aise tujhe pareshan karne ko, par mere zyada dost hai nahi, aur jo hai, unse contact nahi hai. { My sister is very ill, and doctor is saying she has just few days left. She had a stroke. Sorry for troubling you like this, but I don't have many friends, and the ones I do, I am not in contact with them.}

Avu: Koyi baat nahi. Tu mujhse milne bhi aa sakti hai aaj sham ko. Mai address send karti hu abhi. { It's fine. You can even come to meet me today evening. I'll send you the address.}

Friend: Mai sham ko kahi aur ja rahi hu, meri behen ke ek dost ke ghar, mai kal sham ko free hu. { I am going somewhere else today evening, my sister's friend's home, I am free tomorrow evening.}

Avu: Oh, thik hai phir. Par mai address abhi bhej rahi hu, warna bhul jaungi. { Oh, ok then. But I am sending the address now or I'll forget.}

Friend: Ok. 

I cut the call and sent her the address. After a minute she messaged me saying she is coming here only today. Her sister's friend is one of them only then. I went outside, knowing by evening I'll get to know who is the friend. I reached downstairs to see Sid coming out, his eyes red and puffy like he had been crying. Can he be the friend? He got a letter from his friend, and now he had been crying. We both were lost in our thoughts, causing us to bump into each other. 

Sidneet: Sorry. 

Just then I noticed even Abhireem are here. 

Sid: Dada aapne Vaishu ko kahi dekha hai? { Dada have you seen Vaishu anywhere?}

Reem: Maine unhe terrace par jaate hue dekha tha Faisu ke sath. { I had seen her go on the terrace with Faisu.}

Avu: Wo dono terrace pe kyu gaye hai is wakt? { Why have they gone to terrace at this time?}

Reem: Tere sweetheart se hi puchna. { Ask your sweetheart only.}

She said while laughing. 

Sid: Sweetheart? 

Avu: Hum bahut pehle se dost the, aur sab hume couple samjhne lage hum close the isliye. Phir hume sweethearts bhi bulane lage. Par actual mein waisa kuch nahi tha isliye yeh sab chidhane ke liye ye baat dohraate rehte hai. { We are friends since very long, and all started assuming us as a couple as we were close. Then they started calling us sweethearts. But there was nothing like that in actual so these people keep repeating it to tease us.}

Sid: Ohh, is group ke teeno ladke tere bhai jaise hai kya? { Ohh, so all three boys of the group are like your brother?}

Avu: Ha. 

I said in flow then bit my tongue, realizing what I said as I looked at Abhireem who were staring at me like I have lost my brain. 

Avu: Mera matlab nahi. Sirf Jaiju. { I mean no. Only Jaiju.}

Reem: Jaiju? 

Avu: Ha, kyu? { Yes, why?}

Reem: Aise hi puch rahi thi, baaki sab use Jai hi bolte hai na. { I was just asking, others call him Jai only no.}

I went to her and whispered. 

Avu: Jal mat, use cheen nahi lungi mai. Mai use waise pasand nahi karti hu, maine abhi kaha bhai jaisa hai aur mera pehle se boyfriend hai. { Don't get jealous, I won't snatch him. I don't like him like that, i just said he is like my brother and I already have a boyfriend.}

She whispered back. 

Reem: Mai jal nahi rahi hu, mai janti hu tera ek bf hai jisse tu bahut pyaar karti hai. { I am not getting jealous, I know you have a bf whom you love a lot.}

I looked towards Abhi at the last part, who was looking at us only, making him look away. Then turned to Reem who was giving me a teasing smile since she thought Abhi got shy, so I glared at her. Then I stepped back and Sid looked at us with a questioning look. But the look on his face said he understood about Reem loving Jai. I blinked like saying yes, which confirmed that Jaireem love each other. 

Jaan: Sid, Avu, tum dono se milne koyi Claire naam ki ladki aayi hai. { Sid, Avu someone has come to meet you both, her name is Claire.}

We both looked at each other. I was right, he is Ella's friend. We went to the door to see Claire standing there. Her eyes red and puffy, though she was smiling now. And her black heads clearly showed she is having many sleepless nights.
