Chapter 16

After sometime Jai and dad came down. Dad was wearing his glasses and mask again. 

AD: Mai ab ja raha hu. Avu, Sid, good luck apne first day ke liye. { I am going now. Avu, Sid, good luck for your first day.}

Sidneet: Thank you. 

I knew he wanted to ask about what Abhi had said, but had to leave. I smiled at him reassuringly.

Avu: Shek, mujhe kuch baat karni hai. { Shek, I want to talk about something.}

Abhi: Ha bol. { Yes say.}

I gave him a look and he understood that I want to talk to him alone. We both went to his room. 

End of POV. 

Avu: Aapne us wakt kyu bola dhyan rakha kar is halat mein? Ab papa ko tension ho gayi. { Why did you say that take care of yourself in this condition? Now dad is in tension.}

Abhi: Arre wo nikal gaya muh se, chinta ho rahi thi teri. Aur maine toh dheere hi bola tha, tere papa ko kaise sunai diya? { It just came out of my mouth, I was worried for you. And I said in such a low voice, how did your father hear?}

Avu: Unki bahut sharp hearing hai. Aur mujhe kuch bolna tha. { He has a very sharp hearing. And I had to say something.}

Abhi: Bol. { Say.}

Avu: Aapko Vaish se distance rakhna hoga. Wo aayi hai tabse aap dono bahut close ho. { You'll have to maintain distance from Vaish. Since she has come you both are very close.}

She wasn't thinking before speaking, these thoughts were troubling her so much that now it came out. Abhi hadn't realised this so didn't try keeping his calm and explaining her. 

Abhi: Par kyun? { But why?}

Avu: Bas rakhna hoga. { You will have to, that's it.}

Abhi: Pehle kaaran toh bata. { First tell the reason at least.}

Avu: Zaruri nahi hai ki mai har cheez ke liye aapko ek wajah du. { It's not necessary that I give you a reason for everything.}

Abhi: Par tu mujhe yuhi aakar kisi se dur rehne bolegi, aur expect karengi ki mai teri baat manu bina wajah jaane, toh wo mujhse nahi hoga. Aur tu janti hai hum sirf dost hai, usse zyada kuch nahi, na kabhi hoge. { But if you come and ask me to stay away from someone, and expect me to listen to you, then I can't do that. And you know that we both are only friends, nothing more, never will be.}

Avu: Bharosa nahi hai mujhe is baat par. { I don't trust these words.}

He understood her worry, but her words hurt him so he couldn't think much on it. 

Abhi: Avu, tu yeh baat bol rahi hai? Sab kuch jaankar bhi? Tu kaise yaar, thoda toh bharosa rakh mujhe par. { Avu, you are saying this? Even after knowing everything? How can you yaar, trust me a little bit at least.}

Avu: Ha bol rahi hu. Mujhe bharosa hai aap par, par ye baat aate hi kitna bhi bharosa ho, mera dar nahi jata. { Yes I am saying it. I trust you but when it comes to this, any amount of trust can't suppress my fear.}

Abhi: Tujhe hua kya hai aaj kal? { What has happened to you these days?}

They were interrupted by the door opening.

Fais: Sab kuch thik hai na? Tum dono jhagad kyu rahe ho? { Is everything fine? Why are you both fighting?}

Avu: Kuch nahi hua hai. { Nothing has happened.}

Avu went to her room while Abhi was confused on what to do that will make her stop doubting. Avu opened her phone and immediately smiled. Ashu had texted her. By talking to him her mind got distracted and she didn't realise when she fell asleep. Later Abhi came and woke her up. 

Abhi: Avu, tune khana nahi khaya hai. Kha le, phir so jana. { Avu, you didn't have your dinner. Eat, then you can sleep.}

Avu: Mujhe nahi khana, sone do. { I don't want to eat, let me sleep.}

She turned to the other side. He turned her again. 

Abhi: Tu khana skip nahi kar sakti hai aise. Doctor ne clearly kaha tha ki time par khana hai. { You can't skip dinner like this. Doctor had clearly said to eat on time.}

Avu: Par mujhe neend aa rahi hai. { But I am feeling sleepy.}

Abhi: Khana khane ke baad so jana. { Sleep after having your dinner.}

She reluctantly sat up. After she was done eating Abhi went. Next morning she woke up and went out to see no one had woken up yet. She went to get ready, not feeling sleepy anymore. When she came out, Jaan was already there downstairs.

Jaan: Avu, tu tayar bhi ho gayi? First day ke liye bahut excited hai lagta hai. { Avu, you got ready also? Looks like you are very excited for your first day.}

Avu: Excited toh hu, par wajah wo nahi. Kal jaldi so gayi thi toh jaldi neend khul gayi. Aur koyi nahi jag raha tha toh mai tayar hone chali gayi. Fais gym gaya? { I am excited, but that's not the reason. I slept early yesterday so woke up early. And no one else was awake so I went to get ready. Fais went to gym?}

Jaan: Aaj use ghar se nikalne ka man nahi tha isliye room mein hi exercise kar raha hai. Waise kal tu aur Abhi jhagad kyu rahe the? Ek saal se bhi zyada ho gaya hai date karte hue, dosti toh usse bhi bahut pehle se thi, lekin aaj tak tum dono ko ladte huye nahi dekha hai. { Today he didn't feel like going out of the home so he is exercising in his room only. Btw why were you and Abhi fighting yesterday? It has been more than one year since you both started dating, and have been friends since even before that, but I never saw you both fighting.}

She remembered their argument. She spoke without thinking, but what she said had been in her mind for long. How could she tell Abhi the reason? There was no way she could let him know that Vaish loved him, it will just mess up things and give no result. 

Jaan: Avu, kaha kho gayi? { Avu, where are you lost?}

Avu: Kahi nahi. Wo sab chod, abhi nashta banate hai, tujhe tayar bhi hona hai. { Nowhere. Leave that, let's prepare the breakfast, you have to get ready also.}

They made the breakfast and Jaan went to get ready. As soon as she left, Fais came.

Fais: Avu.

Avu: Hmm?

Fais: Mai Janu ko propose karne wala hu. { I am going to propose Janu.}

Avu: Finally. 

Fais: Avu, tu thik toh haina? { Avu, are you fine?}

She didn't answer him and rushed to the washroom, feeling sick. He made her drink water after they returned to the kitchen. Just then Abhi came there. He has to go to studio today, with Jai.

Abhi: Tum dono yaha? { You both here?}

Fais: Ha, wo Avu ko phir ulti ho gayi. { Yes, Avu vomited again.}

Abhi: Ab thik hai na tu? { Are you fine now?}

Avu: Ha.

Abhi: Tu Sid ke saath jayegi aur ayegi na? Toh gaadi use chalane dena. { You'll go and come with Sid right? Let him drive the car.}

Avu: Thik hai. { Ok.}
