But I couldn't hear him since the exhaust was on. I was about to turn it off, when I felt him hold my hands, hugging me from behind, as he stirred it with me. I was just thinking about our proximity, not realising when Vaish entered the kitchen. Suddenly Sid left me and I came back to my senses, I turned around to see he was still standing very close to me, but his cheeks were a bit red, almost unnoticeable. Then I turned to see Vaish is also in the kitchen. I turned off the exhaust. 

Avu: Aap kuch bol rahe the? Exhaust ki wajah se sunai nahi diya. { Were you saying something? Because of the exhaust I couldn't hear.}

Vaish: Mai toh bas yeh bol rahi thi ki tum dono as a couple kitne cute ho. { I was just saying you both are so cute as a couple.}

I felt myself blushing but controlled it. 

Avu: Aisa nahi hai, hum bas dost hai. { There is nothing like that, we are just friends.}

Vaish: Maine tum dono ko romance karte hue pakda hai, aur mujhe jhoot bol rahe ho. { I caught you both romancing, and now you are lying.}

Sid: Hum romance nahi kar rahe the. Avni sabji bahut dheere chala rahi thi, toh sabji jalne lagi, isliye maine use jaldi chalane ya mujhe dene bola, par usne suna hi nahi, shayad exhaust ki wajah se, isliye mai uske peeche khade hokar chalane laga. { We were not romancing. Avni was stirring the sabji very slowly, because of which it started burning, that's why I said her to stir fast or give me the spoon, but she didn't hear, maybe because of exhaust, that's why I stood behind her and started stirring.}

Vaish: Ha ha, bana lo bahane. Tum dono ko dekh kar hi pata chalta hai ki ek dusre se pyaar karte ho.  { Yeah yeah, make excuses. Seeing you both it is clear that you both love each other.}

Fais: Kaun kisse pyaar karta hai? { Who loves whom?}

Vaish: Av...

My eyes widened, if she completed the sentence, he may tell her I am dating Abhi. 

Avu: Ye bas apne college mein kisi couple ki baat kar rahe the. { They were just talking about a couple from their college.}

Fais: Ok, khana ban gaya kya? { Ok, is the dinner ready?}

We all took the food out and served it, except Vaish, whom I didn't let as she had hurt her hand. 

Jaan: Mai Abhi ko bulati hu jakar. { I'll go and call Abhi.}

Avu: Wo nahi aane waale tere saath, Sid tu ja na. { He won't come with you, Sid you go no.}

Sid: Tu bula le. Wo waise bhi teri sunenge. { You call him. He'll anyways listen to you.}

Avu: Nahi mujhe nahi jana unko bulane, tu ja. { No I don't want to go to call him, you go.}

He looked unsure but went anyway. After few minutes they both came downstairs, and Abhi's eyes were red, just like how they are at every time we see him since Dadi's death. But I didn't say anything, as we all ate dinner. We all were talking except Abhi, they all will have to go through his silent treatment for some days. He can't give the silent treatment to me and Sid though, as we know him too well. After dinner, he immediately went upstairs, to the terrace. I went to my room and changed before going to the terrace.

She reached to see Abhi standing there, leaning against the railings. 

Avu: Shek. 

Abhi: Avu, ja yaha se. Mujhe baat nahi karni. { Avu, go from here. I don't want to talk.}

Avu: Pakka jau, phir mai wapas nahi aaungi. { Are you sure I should go, then I won't come again.}     

The last few words echoed in his ears as he stiffened, while Avu kept her hand on her mouth, realizing what she said. It might be the normal teasing words for anyone, but she knew how much those words affected Abhi. Suddenly Abhi's sadness turned into anger, the one Avu feared, the one only she had seen. He turned around, and Avu went to him, she was few steps away, but he stopped her before she could come closer. 

Abhi: Jana hai na, toh ja. Mujhe toh waise bhi aadat hai. { You want to go right, then go. I am anyways habitual to it.}

Avu: Abh...

Abhi: Nahi tu hi bachi thi, tu bhi ja. Mujhe bilkul farak nahi padega. { No only you were left, you also go. It won't affect me at all.}

Avu: Abhi, mera wo matlab nahi tha, wo galti se nikal gaya. { Abhi, I didn't mean that, it came out by mistake.}

His increasing anger was increasing her panic, as she thought of any way to stop his anger from increasing. 

Abhi: Galti toh kisiki bhi nahi hoti hai mujhe chodne ke liye. Mummy papa ki galti nahi thi unka plane crash ho gaya, Sid ki galti nahi thi ki uska future sambhalna zaruri tha, Vaish ki galti nahi thi maine use dost se zyada samjha, Arhaan ki galti nahi thi ki maine use apna sacha dost maana, dadi ki galti nahi thi ki unki umar ho gayi thi, aur teri galti nahi hogi agar tu mujhe chod de, mai hi hu aisa. Pata nahi kyu har baar expect... { It is never anyone's mistake to leave me. It wasn't mom dad's fault that their plane crashed, it wasn't Sid's fault that it was necessary to handle his future, it wasn't Vaish's fault that I considered her more than a friend, it wasn't Arhaan's fault that I thought of him as a true friend, it wasn't dadi's fault she had aged, and it won't be your mistake if you leave me, I am only like this. I don't know why do I every time expect...}

Avu knew what he was going to say and interrupted. 

Avu: Aapne wada kiya tha aap aisa kuch waapis kabhi nahi bolonge. { You had promised you won't say anything like this ever again.}

A tear slipped down his eye, but there was still anger in his eyes, on his life, where he lost everyone he loved. He pulled her into a tight hug, which showed his fear. 

Avu: Sorry wo bolne ke liye, mai aapko chodkar kabhi nahi jaungi. { I am sorry for saying that, I'll never leave you and go.}

His anger calmed down and he seemed to relax at her words.

Abhi: Avu sabko kho chuka hu, ab tu nahi. Mai janta hu humare baaki dost aur Sid hai, par tujhe kho diya toh... Mai tujhse bahut pyaar karta hu, tujhe nahi kho sakta. { Avu I have lost everyone, not you now. I know our other friends and Sid are there, but if I lose you then... I love you a lot, I can't lose you.}

Avu: Mai bhi aapse bahut pyaar karti hu aur aapko chodkar nahi ja paungi. { Even I love you a lot and will not be able to leave you and go.}

They were talking unaware of the two people who had heard everything. But not for long, Avu had felt someone's presence, and immediately went to the gate. Abhi followed her, understanding someone is there. And when they both saw the two people, they were completely shocked. 

Avu: Aap dono yaha kab aye... { When did you both come here...}
