FAIRY TALE 5: Invite

KHALLIELEYA

If there's something weird right now, I can say it is Arizs's mood.

Pauwi na kami pero nakakunot pa rin ang noo niya. His veins at his fist kept twitching because of the constant firm grip on the dagger knife he is holding. Also, the clenching of his jaw is flexing. I can't take my eyes off of it. It is disturbing.

I took a deep breathe and look at his face to avoid the blade. "Are you okay, Arizs?" I ask gently. Not to sound terrified so he won't move the blade up to my vision.

Lumipat ang tingin niya sa akin at lumambot iyon. Bumuntong-hininga siya at tinago ang dagger knife niya. Ako naman ang napaiwas ng tingin sa kaniya at ang lalim kasi ng titig nito sa akin. "I'm sorry. Was I scaring you with my dagger knife, Khally?"

I nod slightly, "A little bit. You were holding it since we took off from school. I thought it would cut me."

"I'm sorry. I dare not to harm myself in front of you." He looks down and his face gloomed as he hid the weapon. "Sino pala 'yong prinsipe kanina?" Tanong niya.

I sat uncomfortably and look out of the window. I watch how we pass by the people who are walking. "Prince Pericles Iedus, from the Iedus Family."

"Oh."

"You might have known about them. Our families are sister kingdoms. Both mine and his are ruling Town Zackozsa."

"I know about that. Pero kaano-ano mo nga ba siya?"

"A... friend." I smile a little as I remember our conversation. He consider me as his friend. His first friend. 

"Kaibigan? Khally, kaibigan tapos hahalikan sa pisngi?"

I suddenly shot him an incredulous look. I feel more disappointed when his foul mood worsen. "Arizs, kaibigan ko si Eric and that kiss means nothing but a greeting. Normal na bumeso sa mga kaibigan, lalaki man o babae."

He cringe, "It doesn't make sense. That is wrong, Khally."

"Why are you acting like this, Arizs? You are rude! What's the difference from you who kept kissing my forehead and Eric?" Napasapo ako sa dibdib ko at umiwas ulit ng tingin. Ang sama na naman ng loob ko. Hindi ko kaya ang ganito.

"I'm closer to you."

"He is a friend who is close to me, too!"

"Kha—"

I raise a hand to stop him and he did.

Pagkarating namin sa palasiyo hindi ko siya pinagbigyan na magsalita. Inagaw ko pa sa kaniya ang bag ko at pumasok mag-isa sa palasiyo. Binati naman ako ng mga nadadaanan kong mga mutsatsa at kawal kaya ganoon din ginawa ko. I kept my anger to myself and be polite to others. I cannot let these people be part of my foul mood as well. They don't deserve to have that treatment. Lalo na kung madalas si Ate Viera ang masama sa kanila.

I felt Arizs's presence behind me so I run fast up the stairs and reach my room. Mukhang humabol pa siya kaya naman binagsakan ko ito ng pinto at naupo sa sahig. Niyakap ko ng mahigpit ang libro ko at huminga ng malalim.

"Bakit naman ganito kami ngayon?"

Nang magising ako ay napatingin ako sa kumot at hinihigaan ko. Inalala ko naman kung saan ako huling nakapwesto kagabi. 

After dinner last night, I went straight here to my room in order to read. I sat on the floor beside my bookshelf and fell asleep without noticing. Pero bakit nasa kama ako ngayon? Hindi naman ako nag-ii-sleepwalk. How did this happen?
