FAIRY TALE 36: Relationship

I told my sisters the truth about my relationship with Arizs. Ate Khei was delighted, but Ate Viera look horrified. She was calling me stupid again for being in love. However, Ate Khei shun her and I felt relieved.

"You are just jealous that she's in a relationship, and you are not. Palibhasa, ang gaga mo kaya hindi ka makakakilala ng lalaki para sa'yo."

"That is not true!"

"Oh, it is, dear sister. Kaya magugulat na lang ako kung meron man papatol sa'yo. Papiyesta ako rito kung sakaling meron."

Nagbangayan pa ang dalawa at hinayaan ko na lang. Sila naman lagi na dalawa ang nag-aaway sa pamilyang ito. Mas mabuting panuorin ko sila at awatin mamaya.

I selfishly asked if they can keep it a secret from Papá. Ate Khei was disappointed, obviously. She doesn't like to hide secrets from anybody. Not even from Papá. Pero dahil na rin siguro sa ayaw niya akong mapagalitan ni Papá ay um-oo ito.

"It is your decision. You know what is wrong and what is right. Just keep in mind to be honest with Papá sooner, than later."

"Opo, Ate Khei."

"Okay. That's good. At least I won't see you miserable anymore." Ate Vie said in a calm tone.

"Thank you, Ate Vie."

"Pero siguraduhin din na hindi ka sasaktan niyang si Arizs. Ayokong mapanuod kang umiiyak na naman dahil sa isang lalaki. I'm going to punish him if he does." Nakangiti nitong banta ni Ate Khei kaya napalunok ako ng aking laway. "Oh, before I forget. Have you told your Kuya Codie about this?"

Umiling ako.

"Hmm. Wala kang balak na ikwento sa kuya mo?"

Should I? I mean, Kuya is part of the family. He is the perfect brother I have ever wish for. He is understandable and mature.

"Sasabihin ko po sa kaniya kapag makakausap ko ito. Sa ngayon po ay busy siya sa mga alyansa upang mahuli ng tuluyan ang mga Unverferth."

Napatango naman si Ate at yumakap sa akin. "I hope it's not too much pressure that I had asked you to tell Codie about your situation. You see, Codie is part of our family now. We welcome him with open arms."

"That's what I thought too."

"You are really a mature young woman," Ate Viera complimented. "Arizs sure is lucky to have you."

"Hahaha! I'm lucky to have him too."

"Why?"

"Because he is true, noble, caring, and loving."

Mas humigpit ang yakap sa akin ni Ate Khei at hinalikan ako sa aking buhok. "I'm very happy for you. Gagawan natin ng paraan na hindi matuloy ang kasal ninyo na naman ni Codie, okay?"

"Okay po."

"We will help each other."

"Opo."

"We are family. We have each other's backs."

Yes, family. The kind of family that I miss. We have each other's back. We are there for one another. Just like what Mama says: "No matter the cost, no matter who the enemy is. Even if we are each other's enemies, we are still family. We should have each other's backs."

Huminga ako ng malalim bago ako pumasok sa headquarters nila Arizs. Ramdam ko sa paligid na wala siya rito. Mukhang namamahinga siya ngayon sa bahay niya. Dumiretso ako sa dating opisina ni Ate Khana tapos nakasalubong ko ang ibang kawal dito.
