Newt wakes up in his bed the next morning, alone. He sighs. He knows he can't have Thomas in his bed every night, but he really wishes he could. He gets up, dreading school. He hates being alone. It gives him time to think about everything he wishes he could forget, especially the phone call.

He swallows hard and looks around his room for a sweatshirt. He finds Thomas's. He grins, slipping it over his own head.

He walks downstairs where Lizzy stands at the bottom of the stairs.

"Ah!" He says, jumping. "Jesus, Lizzy!"

"You're dating Thomas!" She accuses.

"I-uh-" He says, looking around.

Lizzy tilts her head. "Awe. You are, aren't you?"

Newt turns a deep red. "No. Shut up."

Lizzy puts a hand on her brother's arm. "Alright."

Her shrugs off her hand and walks out the door and to the bus stop. Thomas sees Newt and a grin spreads across his face.

"Hey." He says.

"Hey," Newt says.

Then, Teresa walks over. Newt glares at her. She smiles at Thomas.

"Hey," She says. "Break up with your girlfriend yet?"

Newt's jaw drops. What the hell is she doing?

"I-I don't have a girlfriend." Thomas stutters.

Teresa grins. "Even better." She winks at him and climbs onto the bus.

Newt looks after her, shell-shocked. "Jesus fucking christ." He says.

Thomas laughs, more out of shock than anything else.

"I can't believe she just did that." Newt says. "I bloody hate her. I really bloody hate her."

Thomas laughs, looking at him. "I know."

"You don't?" Newt asks, looking at him, slightly shocked.

"Of course I do." Thomas answers. Thomas grabs his hand.

"Can I punch her?" Newt asks innocently.

"No." Thomas says, laughing. "I'm sorry but no."

"Alright, come on." Newt says, taking his hand. "I'll punch her later."

The pair climb onto the bus and sit across from Teresa.

"Newt, why are we here?" Thomas asks apprehensively.

Newt glances at Teresa. Of course she's looking at him.

"Newt, what are you thinking?" Thomas asks.

Newt puts a hand on Thomas's leg and kisses him. Thomas leans into him, knowing full well that Teresa is watching them. Newt pulls away, smirking. Thomas looks at him. "That was a solid idea." He says, blushing.

Newt laughs. "Oh, I know."

Newt looks back at Teresa. She's pissed. Newt grins.

"Haha." He says, sticking his tongue out.

"You are such a toddler." Thomas says, laughing.

"Oh whatever, she can't even hear me." Newt says. "And anyway, I like rubbing it in her face. She doesn't get to flirt with you without me rubbing it in her face. And maybe punching her."

Thomas bursts out laughing. "Fine. But no punching." Thomas says.

"Fine." Newt says.

After school, Newt and Thomas sit on Newt's bed, talking.

"Hey, Tommy?" Newt says.

"Yeah?" Thomas asks, turning to face him.

"Do you...like Teresa?" Newt asks nervously.

Thomas looks at Newt. "What?" He says. "Of course not."

Newt looks at him too. "Are you sure?"

"I'm positive." Thomas says. "I like you."

Newt chuckles. He moves so he's sitting next to him. "Are you sure?"

"That I like you?" Thomas asks. Newt nods. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Here, lemme prove it."

He leans over and kisses him. Newt kisses him back, wrapping his arms around his neck. Thomas pulls away.

"You believe me now?" Thomas asks.

"Mmm..." Newt says. "I think I might need a little more proof."

Thomas laughs but obliges, kissing him again.

"Are you ever going to tell me what happened?" Thomas asks that night. They sit on Newt's couch, watching TV.

"Do you have to keep bring it up, Tommy?" Newt asks.

Thomas sighs. He grabs Newt's hand. "I'm sorry. I just care about you and I want to help."

"Help by shutting up about it." Newt says.

Thomas groans. "Newt, you have to talk to me!" He says.

"Tommy." He says. "Drop it. Or no more kissing."

Thomas gasps. "You wouldn't."

"Wouldn't I?" Newt asks, shrugging. He gets up. "Let's find out."

Thomas gets up too. Newt walks into the kitchen, smirking. He hoists himself up on the counter. Thomas walks over to him. Newt tilts his head. Thomas puts his hands on Newt's waist. Newt looks at Thomas. "Hey, Tommy."

Thomas looks at him. "Hey."

Then, Thomas kisses him and Newt kisses him back, breaking his promise. He puts his hands in the other boys hair, pulling him closer.

Then, the door opens. The boys spring apart and Newt hops off the counter.

"Hey, mom." He says nervously.

"Hey, sweetie." She says. "Hey, Thomas."

"Hi, Amelia." He says. "I should go."

"Alright." She says. "Bye."

Thomas waves and walks out the door. Amelia walks over to the oven.

"So." She says. "What were you two doing?"

"Watching TV." He says.

"In the kitchen?" She asks, turning to face her son.

"Well, um, we got up to get snacks." He lies. "Listen, I'm gonna go to my room."

"Okay, honey." She kisses his forehead. "Love you."

"Love you too." He says, walking away. He sighs and lays on his bed. That was not the best idea.
