Newt and Thomas sit on the couch, rain pouring out the window.

"It's summer," Newt says. "It shouldn't be raining."

"I don't think the weather got the memo." Thomas says, pulling him closer.

"It's cold." Newt says. "Rain makes everything cold and summer is supposed to be hot."

He leans against Thomas, resting his head on his chest. He sighs.

"Tired?" Thomas asks.

"You could say that." Newt says. "I blame you."

"I didn't do anything." Thomas says.

"Did I say it would be reasonable?" Newt says.

Thomas laughs. "Yeah, okay. I guess that's fair."

"No, it's not." Newt says. "That's the point."

"Oh, okay." Thomas says. "I didn't realize."

"Honestly, Tommy," Newt says.

Thomas smiles, chuckling softly. "Right."

Later, they both sit in the backyard. Newt sits in the grass and Thomas sits in a chair right next to him. Newt picks something up from the grass.

"Tommy, look!" Newt says. He shows Thomas a small caterpillar.

Thomas smiles. "It's cute."

"I'll name him Jeffery." Newt says. "Jeff for short." Thomas chuckles softly. Newt lowers the caterpillar back into the grass and it skitters away. "I like him."

Thomas kisses his cheek. "You're better."

"Mmm." Newt says, putting an arm on the arm of Thomas's chair. "Come cuddle with me." Newt says.

"I would but I don't like grass." Thomas says. "You come here."

"Okay." Newt says.

He jumps up and climbs into the chair too. Thomas moves and puts an arm around his shoulders and one around his waist. Newt wraps his arms around Thomas's neck and rests his forehead on his shoulder.

"I love you, Tommy." He murmurs.

"I love you too." Thomas says.

Newt kisses him, putting his hands in his hair. Thomas slides one leg between Newt's. Newt kisses him harder, moving a hand down his arm, slipping it under his shirt. Thomas pulls away slightly.

"You said you wanted to cuddle." Thomas says.

"Yeah, well, I say a lot of things." Newt says. "You should know this by now. We've been dating for nearly two years and we were best friends years before that."

"Yeah, I should," Thomas says. "But I've been a little bit more focused on how cute you are."

"Is that right?" Newt says, running a hand up and down his leg.

A shiver runs up Thomas's spine. "Uh..." Thomas says. "Suddenly I forget what I was saying."

"Suddenly, huh?" Newt says, smirking.

"Mhm," Thomas says. "That's what I said. And if you take your hand off my leg it'll be true."

Newt laughs. "Yeah. That's what I thought."

The next day, they sit in Newt's bedroom.

"Hey, Tommy," Newt says.

"Yeah?" Thomas says, looking up.

"You should let me paint your nails." Newt says.

"Why?" Thomas asks.

"Come on, it'll be fun." Newt says. "Please?"

Thomas looks at him. "Alright, fine."

Newt grins. "Okay, cool."

Newt jumps up and runs to bathroom. He walks back holding five things of nail polish.

"I wonder why they're called nail polish." Newt says, tilting his head. "They don't polish your nails."

Thomas chuckles. "I don't know."

"Okay, give me your hand." Newt says. "What color should I do?"

"I don't care." Thomas says, giving him his hand.

Newt nods and opens one of the jars, resting Thomas's hand on his knee. "I love you for letting me do this."

"I love you so I'm letting you do this." Thomas responds.

Newt presses the palms of their hands together once he's done. "You're hot with nail polish." He says. "You should let me do it more often."

"Sure," Thomas says.

"Great." Newt says. He intertwines their fingers and kisses him, pushing him back against the bed. "Okay, I have to put the nail polish away, but when I get back, I'm kissing you." He says, getting off of him and hopping off the bed.

"Why can't you do that later?" Thomas complains.

"It'll take me all of ten seconds." Newt says, taking the containers off the bed. "I'll be right back, Tommy."

When he gets back, Thomas walks over to him, putting his hands on his hips and kissing him.

"Couldn't wait two more seconds?" Newt says, laughing slightly.

"No." Thomas says.

"Yeah, me either." Newt says and he kisses him again.
