Fifty

"Tommy, I'm sad." Newt says, a frown on his face, walking into his room.

Thomas gets up. "What's wrong?"

"Lizzy said I wasn't gay." He says.

Thomas chuckles. "Wh-why did she say that?" 

"Well," Newt says. "We were arguing and then, well, I don't remember what I said but I was mean and then she said I wasn't gay!"

Thomas puts a hand over his mouth. "I'm sorry but you are seriously the cutest human being ever."

Newt wraps his arms around Thomas's waist. "She's mean."

"Oh, I know." Thomas says, kissing the top of his head. "Don't listen to her, she's just trying to make you upset."

"Yeah, well, it works." Newt says. 

Thomas rubs his back. "I'm sorry." 

Newt kisses him. "You're so sweet."

Then, the door opens. It's Lizzy.

"Oh, good, I found you." She says. "And I take it back, you are literally the gayest person I have ever met." 

Newt separates himself from Thomas. "Yeah, I'd better be."

Thomas chuckles. 

"Newt, you have to come home." Lizzy says. "Mom says so."

"But I'm busy." Newt says.

"Fucking Thomas does not count as being busy." Lizzy says.

"I wasn't!" Newt says. "I was only kissing him!"

"Okay, kissing Thomas does not count as being busy."  Lizzy says.

"But-" Newt starts.

"No." Lizzy says.

"Oh, you're just bitter because you aren't dating anyone!" Newt says.

"As a matter of fact, I am." Lizzy says. "And I'm not bitter, Mom sent me!"

"Wait, you are?!" Newt says. 

"Yeah." Lizzy says.

"Who?" He says, entirely distracted. 

Lizzy kicks the ground. "Harriet."

Newt's eyes widen. "SERIOUSLY!?"

"Yeah." She says, blushing.

"Awww, Liz!" He says. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because, um, this." Lizzy says, waving a hand at him. 

"I'M HAPPY!" He says, jumping up and down. 

Thomas smiles. "You're cute."

"Thomas, shut up." Lizzy says. "And you too, Newt. Come on. We have to go."

"No!" Newt whines. "Not unless Tommy can come! And no changing the fucking subject!"

"Fine." Lizzy says. "Thomas can come." Then she giggles.

"Okay, um, go away." Newt says. "I'll be there in a minute. God." She laughs harder as she walks out the door. Newt sighs. "I'm sorry about her." 

Thomas chuckles. "Don't be. She's funny."

Newt rolls his eyes. "Come on, my mom'll kill me if we don't."

Later, Newt sits with Lizzy on the couch, smirking.

"What?" She asks.

"You're dating Harriet." He says, grinning. "Have you kissed her yet?" 

Lizzy blushes. "Newt, shut up."

"You owe it to me." He says. "I tell you things."

"Fine." She says. "Yes, I did. Once. Now, please, shut up."

Newt smiles. "Okay. I'm going to see Thomas now."

"Okay." She says. "Love you."

"Love you too." Newt says.

He gets up and walks to Thomas's house. He knocks on the door and Thomas opens it.

"Hey." Thomas says. 

Newt smiles. "Hi." He wraps his arms around his neck and kisses him. 

"You're so cute." Thomas says. 

"I do my best." Newt says. 

Thomas puts his hands on his face. "I just want to kiss you."

"Do it, then." Newt says.

Thomas does. He moves his hands into the other boys hair. Newt wraps his arms around his waist. Newt sighs deeply. 

"I'm happy." Newt says. 

"Good." Thomas says quietly. 

Thomas hugs him and Newt wraps his arms around his neck. 

"I wish school didn't start tomorrow." Newt says. "All I want is to kiss you. I mean, that's not all I want, but you know."

"Right..." Thomas says, looking at him. "Do I know?"

"You wanna know?" Newt says, smirking. 

"I mean, I don't not want to." Thomas says.

"Yeah." Newt says. "Well, my point is, I wish the teachers didn't care if I kissed you instead of doing actual school work."

"I think they might, though." Thomas says. 

"I know, it sucks." Newt says, frowning. 

"Oh, well, for the record, if I were the teachers, I would let you kiss me." Thomas says.

"I should hope so." Newt says. "You're the one I'd be kissing."

Thomas laughs. "Right, of course."

Newt kisses him. "Love you, Tommy."

"Love you too."
