"It's a..." Lia barely heard the doctor say before she passed out. After hours of nonstop labor, she was exhausted.
I'll see my baby later.

ONE DAY OLD

"It's a girl", Jessica heard clearly what the doctor said and she would be lying to herself if she said the news gladdened her.
It was supposed to be a boy. I want a boy.

TWO DAYS OLD
Lia finally woke up and her new born child was handed to her.

As she gazed down at the little angel who was asleep in her hands, tears immediately welled up in her eyes,

"My beautiful angel, my little baby girl"

"It's a boy", the nurse checking her vitals announced.

Lia looked up, "what?"

"It's a boy not a girl", she said smiling softly.

"Oh", she looked down at her baby again.
But the doctor...when I fell asleep, I can swear he said it was a girl. Am I going crazy?
Lia shook her head.
It didn't matter to her. Whether a boy or a girl, she loved her baby with everything she was.
"It's you and me against the world now"

TWO DAYS OLD
Jessica was all smiles as she held her baby boy in her arms.
She was overjoyed when she discovered she did indeed have a boy and not a girl. The amateur nurse had made a mistake. Regardless, she was joyous. Jessica would blame it on the hormones that the reason she wanted a boy for her first child but honestly, societal pressure and an actual witch for a mother in law made her want even more. She was so close minded or stuck in the past that things like which gender her first child should be would bother her. She was important. She might as well be the first lady of the country. It mattered that her first child was a boy.
A lot of people came bearing gifts including people she'd never met before.
This was what happened when one belong to one of the richest family in the world.
"So what should we name him?" Jessica glanced up at her husband excitedly who smiled down at her.
"Oliver Theodore Borghese"
Jessica groaned internally as her mother-in-law walked into her ward.
Can I go a full day without seeing this witch and what kind of awful name is that?
"Hello mother", Daniel smiled as he walked to his mother pecking both her cheeks.
She held his cheeks smiling at him.
"I'm so proud of you son but this hospital I'm not proud of", Lisa looked around with distaste. The hospital wasn't half bad but perhaps being the owner of a successful winery, it was.
Jessica rolled her eyes. It's not her fault she fell into labor two weeks early. She had been downtown when she felt her water broke and felt a contraction almost immediately and had to be rushed to the hospital as quickly as possible.
"I can't believe I had my first grandchild, the heir of the family's company in a scum like this"
"It's just a hospital, Lisa. Get over it" Jessica said no being able to hold her tongue.
Lisa turns, "Oh Jessica I almost didn't notice you"
Jessica glared at her.
Daniel sighed.
"I believe we were on the issue of my precious grandson's name. I believe Oliver is the most suitable name"
"Well I believe not", Jessica retorted.
Who does this woman think she is trying to name her child?
"Well thankfully your opinion doesn't matter",
Jessica gasped then scoffed.
"Who's the mother here?"
"Who's the one with the money to raise him?"
"Not everything is about money you old hag"
Lisa's face burned with fury.
"Ok, that is enough. Jessica hand me my child and get some rest , you need it. Mother leave and sip some tea or something", Daniel ordered.
"Daniel", Lisa said with a gasp.
"No", he said firmly.
Lisa huffed walking out not before sending a death glare to her daughter-in-law.
"It's official, I hate your mother", Jessica complained to her husband.
"And so I've been told", he said collecting the baby from her arms before kissing her forehead. "Get some sleep"
"Fine but you tell Lisa money won't cure her ugliness. She'd be nothing without your late father"
"Jessica, sleep"
She rolled her eyes before getting comfortable.
A smile itched on her face.
Who cared about his name?
