(A/N: clears throat: hiiiiii. I'm back. My first update since October. I apologise for not updating. I was drowning, literally drowning in school work but it's the holidays now and I'll try to actively update. I also came back to meet 185 reads. My heart is full. Thank you very much)
Chris and Kathy walked into their rundown house in terrible moods. Chris hadn’t stopped crying and Kathy’s headache was killing her.
Lia, who was knitting stopped to greet them.
“Hey kids, welcome. I’ve got great news”. Sighting Chris, her smile turned into a frown as she dropped her knitting equipment, stood up and rushed toward him.
“What happened, baby?”
Chris ignored and ran to the room.
“Chris”, she called after him but there was no need. He wouldn’t be coming out again that night.
She turned to face her daughter.
“Kathy, what happened?”
“Some kid picked on him. He’s just overreacting”
“Kathy! Don’t say that. You know how difficult it is for him”
“Well, not everything is about him” she ran out the house.
“Kathy, Kathy. Why is up with these children today?”

Jessica couldn’t move. She froze. She hadn’t felt this way since she discovered her mother’s passing. She distinctly heard what the doctor said,
“It’s biologically impossible that he’s your son…we’ll have to inform the hospital where Mrs. Borghese gave birth to years ago”
Her life was over.
Oliver. Oliver. What would Oliver do?
I’m so sorry, Oliver
The next day at school, Chris walked with Kathy and a large chunk of students followed them with their eyes. It made Chris feel uncomfortable. Barkis and the rest walked towards them. Kathy almost rolled her eyes on the look on their faces. It pissed her off so much.
“Ugh guys, come on. You weren’t like this before you found out”
Barkis shook her head, “You’re right, sorry”
“It’s so strange, none of us knew”, Charlie added quietly.
“Wait, aren’t autistic kids supposed to be like…” Ken paused. He didn’t know how to put it without sounding rude. He was just curious.
“Chris has a low functioning Asperger’s syndrome. It’s not severe but it’s still there. People might think his reserved personality is cute and some shit like that but it’s really hard for him”
Kathy decided to explain to them. They all seemed genuinely curious and they seemed like good people, yes even Vivi except Irene, she was nowhere to be found.
That bitch, Kathy said in her mind.
The school bell rang then and they all separated deciding to meet at the cafeteria at lunch.
As Chris entered the class for his first period, History, he got the same looks from the students. He was so irritated he wanted to run out of the class.
The teacher entered at the moment and saved the day.
“OK, OK, enough of that. Settle down and let’s get down to business”
Chris rushed to take a seat. He took a seat next to a girl whose name he believed was Misha. She ignored him and he was very grateful.
“Before we get started”, the teacher started to say, “the school’s management will like you all to know that the annual inter house sport has been postponed until further notice. Now that is done and over with, today’s topic is…”
Chris attention drifted away from what his taught. He thought about the upcoming competition he would participate in. he thought about Derek and his handsome face. He thought about how the red colour shouldn’t exist. It hurt his eyes. He only liked when he painted with it, he hated it every other time. Then it felt eyes on him again and it made him very uncomfortable. The eyes didn’t leave the back of his head as the second passed. He turned and flinched when his eyes caught the expressive grey eyes. They were a lot like his mother’s, he liked it.
He didn’t understand why Oliver was staring at him and he didn’t look away either.
Oliver on the other hand didn’t understand the boy at all. Didn’t he have autism? Weren’t autistic kids supposed to tremble in fear and bow their heads at the sight of others? Oliver knew he was speaking in ignorance but he hated Chris’ guts that he sometimes wanted to beat him up but then he would be called the devil’s incarnate because he troubled the poor disabled kid. He would either beat him up or kiss him. He almost hit himself at that thought. But then he decided he better start exploring options since Paul was mad at him, again. Apparently, the way he didn’t call out his friend when he bullied ‘the poor kid’ in Paul’s words was not cool. Again everything started and ended with Chris, it pissed him off. All these while, he didn’t break eye contact with him but eventually did when…
“So there’ll be a test 15 minutes to the end of the class”, the teacher announced.
The whole class murmured in protest.
And just like that, Chris broke eye contact to focus on the teacher. He didn’t care about the test. He only cared about the strawberry ice cream he’s going to get during lunch break.
