Oliver arrived home that day and knew something was amiss. Neither his parents nor sister were anywhere to be found. On a normal day, his parents would be on the living room’s couch sipping wine and cuddled against each other. He had to give it to his parents, they truly loved each other. And his sister would be singing obnoxiously loud along with some Disney cartoon and her voice would echo round the house in spite of how big it was.
He decided to ignore the weird feeling in his guts and walked to his room to freshen up. Before he could take another step, the front door opened and in came his parents. He turned around and faced them and the look on their faces told him something was up and it wasn’t in any way pleasant.
Bankruptcy was the first thing that came to mind but then he shook it away. The sky could fall and his family would still be rich.
“Hey mom, hey dad. What’s going on?” he turned to his mother who looked close to tears.
“Oliver”, her voice broke at the mention of his name.
Now he was really confused. Another gut wrenching thought filled him.
Emilia.
“Emilia is with grandma. We didn’t want her here while we have this conversation”
He heaved a big relief sigh then blinked. Did he speak his mind out or did it show on his face?
Different scenarios occurred in his head afterwards. Had he gotten a girl pregnant and were her parents demanding a huge amount? That was silly that he almost scoffed.
His parents moved closer to him, skittishly that he almost assumed they were wary of him.
So whatever was going on wasn’t his fault? Phew.
“Oliver, we need to tell you something”
Uh oh. What had they done? What had he done?
Were they finally sending him away? Did they hate him? Did they hate him for being bisexual?
“We love you, no matter what, alright? We love you so much”
Yep, it was true, they were sending him away.
“Oliver, s-something has come up. Your father and I, we were curious and we decided to confirm. We went to the hospital and w-we did a DNA test”
Oliver felt his blood ran cold.
“At first, we thought it was just a coincidence that you look nothing like any of us in the family because it happens but-” Jessica stopped. She couldn’t continue.
“They told us it’s impossible that we’re your biological parents”, his father completed.
Oliver felt like his worst fear had come to pass.
“But we love you Oliver and we are never ever letting you go”, his mother tried to move loser but he withdrew.
“I-”
“Oliver”
“I need to-I’ll go”
“Oliver”
He walked, rather staggered out of the house. He heard his mother’s voice calling after him but he had only one mission in mind: to leave that environment.
He entered his car, turned the ignition and sped off and the ringing still continued in his head. His blood still felt cold.
Why was he so upset? He’s never really had a good relationship with his parents and whatever happened, he didn’t care and wouldn’t miss them.
Why is everywhere so blurry suddenly? Oliver thought. He realized he had tears in his eyes and they were blinding his vision.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck”
Fuck he needed Paul. Barely paying attention to where he was going to, he brought out his cell phone, dialed Paul’s number to call him.
He cursed out loud when he was directed to voicemail.
“Paul, it’s me”, his voice broke but he couldn’t care less. He needed him.
“Please call me as soon as you get this. I know you’re mad at me but something has come up but fuck I need you. Call me, please”
He dropped his phone and hit the steering wheel that he yelled at the pain in his hand than the pain in his heart.  One moment, he was driving on the road and another moment his car is skidded off the road by another.  The loud bang as Oliver’s car hit a tree was the last thing Oliver heard before the world went black.

Lia dropped the spatula to answer her ringing phone. She had received her first pay check at her new job and decided to cook something special for her kids.
She picked up the cell and accepted the call.
“Hello?”
“Good evening, ma’am. Am I speaking with Lia Cameron?”
“Yes, this is her”
“Miss Cameron, I am a representative of St Maria hospital and we have a situation”
Lia felt her heart dip. She recognized the name anywhere. Besides, she gave birth to her son there.
“I hope there is no problem?”
That was a stupid question to ask and Lia knew this. The speaker literally said there was a situation.
I paid all my hospital bills, right? Lia thought. It took time but she did. There was nothing to be worried about.
“Will you be able to come down to the hospital tomorrow? There’s a miscalculation concerning your son’s birth”
Lia’s heart beat loudly in her chest. She feared the worst.
After hanging up, she created different scenarios of what the situation could be.
Was it the hospital’s fault that Chris had Asperger’s syndrome?
She quickly rid off her thoughts. That was absurd.
Only time would tell.
