(A/N: THIS IS COMING A BIT LATE I APOLOGISE!)
Oliver ignored everybody who tried to get his attention. He was done and over with school that day.
He hated going to that school.
First of all, because his mother owned the school, everyone expected him to be the good kid and he didn’t like that.
Secondly, everyone at the school was a kiss ass and he hated all of them.
Thirdly, the school was art based. He sucked at any anything arts related, he sucked at everything. Sure he had a stellar grade but he knew he was just going to grow up and inherit the family business and that thought alone gave him a headache.
“Yo Oliver wait up”, he heard the obnoxious voice of his ‘best friend’ call him.
He didn’t have a best friend. He could barely say he had a friend. He hated everyone.
“Not now Jacob”, he said walking faster but Jacob caught up to him.
He doesn’t know when to quit, does he?
“Have you heard of the mute kid everyone’s talking about?”,
He’s heard alright. It was all his class talked about today, it drove him insane.
Apparently, the mute kid is way more attractive than him (He didn’t care), he disrespected his teachers, cause of fucking course, that’s news. As if most of the students here didn’t do that too. Well the mute kid and the whole school can fuck themselves with a spoon.
He was so pissed that day and he didn’t know why.
Of course he did, it was because of a certain red haired.
Fucking Paul.
Paul had shown up at the school the day before and they had an argument. Oliver wanted to pull his hair at the memory.
“What are you doing here?” Oliver had asked.
“Do I need to have a reason to visit the person I’m seeing?”
“Yeah but I’m in school”
“Ok, and?”
Oliver had remained silent. Of course he was happy to see Paul; he just wasn’t ready to let the whole school know they were official. It was stupid, very stupid of him.
“Are you ashamed of me?”
Oliver couldn’t get the memory of how Paul’s voice broke when he asked that question.
Fuck.
Oliver had denied that he wasn’t because he wasn’t but Paul walked away before Oliver could get another word in.
Fuck, this is why I don’t do relationships.
Oliver was so distracted that when he rounded in a corner that led to the exit of the school, he bumped against a smaller body and felt a cold wet substance on his chest.
The individual stepped back. Oliver looked down and saw a creamy stain on the chest area of his jacket. His hand twitched.
“Oh, it’s the mute freak”, Jacob said the same smirk from earlier back on his face. “So, did you finally get your pacifier?” He pouted taunting Chris as he laughed at his god awful joke.
Jacob then realized Oliver was too quiet beside him. He noticed the stain on Oliver’s jacket.
His smirk grew on his face. He knew what Oliver would freak.
Finally some action in this boring school.
The hallway filled with students quieted down as every body anticipated what Oliver would do.
Chris on the other hand was sad that his ice cream got wasted. He held the cone in his hand as the remaining ice cream melted.
He had wasted money. His mom didn’t like it when he wasted money.
He tossed the cone into the trash can and wiped his hand on his clothes as he proceeded to leave.
He then suddenly felt a hand grab him backpack and a second later, his back hit the wall, hard that he groaned and closed his eyes for a moment to let the pain settle.
“And where the hell do you think you’re going?”
Chris opened his eyes and stared at the boy that held him down, his back to the wall. The glare on the boy’s face made him look down.
Who was he and what did he do?
Chris tried to break free but Oliver was not having it. He held him to the wall tighter.
“You ruined my jacket. Apologise and look up when I speak to you”, Oliver grinded out.
Chris didn't raise his head keeping his head down. They eventually would just insult him and leave him alone when he did that.
He did know who held him down though.
Oliver.
Chris took the courage and looked up. The familiar eyes made him hold eye contact. It looked like his mother’s eyes, only brighter and more alive.
“This freak is eye raping you”, Jacob snickered out.
Oliver’s glare turned into a sneer.
He slammed him harder to the wall.
“Fucking apologise or I’ll beat you up”
Chris continued to stare at the person in front of him holding him to the wall too engrossed in staring at his pretty eyes.
Oliver had never felt the need to inflict pain on someone as much as he did at that moment.
At that moment, Chris distinctly heard the ringing of an ice cream truck. His silver eyes lit up, he could buy a new one.
Oliver looked at him in confusion.
Who the fuck is this kid?
Maybe he really is mute.
He still needed to apologize and pay him for ruining his jacket. He didn’t even want the money. The jacket mattered to him. Paul got it for him.
Fucking Paul.
In his state of confusion and thought, Chris broke free of his grasp as he proceeded to hurry before the ice cream truck left but that freedom was short lived as he felt someone grab him again. He felt the punch on his nose before he could blink. Gasps filled the hallway as he fell to the floor. At the moment, Kathy arrived.
She screamed and immediately rushed to the floor next to him.
“Chris”
Chris on the other hand was confused. What did he do?
He began to shake uncontrollably.
He felt pain everywhere and felt like he couldn’t breathe.
“Chris, look at me. Chris”
Oliver stared at the duo on the floor.
Who were these freaks and what were they doing in his school?
“He’s going into shock. Someone please help”
But no one moved.
“what is going on over there?!” A voice belonging to a teacher boomed. Mr. Drew appeared a second later.
When he saw Chris, he immediately rushed to his side.
“Everyone go home. now!!!”
Drew carried Chris in his arms and led him out of the crowd Kathy following behind.
Kathy looked back one more time as she stared at Oliver with a look of hatred. Oliver caught her stare and his heart flipped a bit in his chest.
He would pay.*****************
Chris slowly opened his eyes. Everything felt blurry at first. He closed his eyes again before opening to see his mom looking down worriedly at him. The room he was in was too bright, he winced a bit.
“Chris baby, are you okay?” Lia asked as she softly caressed his cheeks.
Chris looked behind her to see Kathy sitting on a chair behind them. Her face was stained with tears. Then he realised that was the first time she’d seen him like that. At first she didn’t know what happened to him but Lia had already told her of him going into the shock and how it happened. He used to have a lot as a child. She had been so scared. The tears returned at the painful memory. He offered her a small smile. Kathy looked way wiping her unending tears as she did.
His eyes settled back on his mother's face. She had a frown on her face. Finally, she broke the silence,
“You’re not coming back to this school”
It was Chris’s turn to frown.
Why? He liked it here. His teachers were nice and they taught well. His new friends also treated him well.
He shook his head at her.
“Chris, you went into shock. You’ve not had one since you were like seven. You’re not coming back here and that’s final”, Lia ordered.
Chris was about to say something back to her but the door opening made him hesitate as he looked behind to see the individual.
It was a hot man in scrubs.
The insanely beautiful man smiled at Chris, his blue eyes so bright. Chris smiled back.
Chris had never really felt anything for anyone before but at that moment he felt butterflies go off in his stomach.
Kathy told him if he felt that and liked it, it means he liked the person.
“Hi Chris, I’m Derek, nurse at this academy. How are you feeling?” He asked softly.
Chris was lost staring at his face that he barely heard what he said.
Derek kept smiling. He was very attractive and he knew it. This wasn’t the first time students would get lost staring at him. While Chris was incredibly handsome, he was still young and a student at that
Eventually Chris nodded.
“That’s great. Do you think you’re strong enough to sit up for me?”
I’d do anything for you. That thought came so suddenly.
Chris nodded again and slowly sat up clutching his head when he felt a sharp pain. He winced. Lia was immediately on her feet holding him.
“Baby, are you Okay?”
Chris nodded.
“It’s ok, Chris it’s expected. You just need to rest well when you get home and I prescribed some drugs with the ones you already use. Make sure to drink lots of water. You’ll be fine”
He nodded again after Derek concluded his talk. His head throbbed terribly but the butterflies in his stomach were unrelenting.
“Do you think you’re strong enough to walk to your mother’s car or do I have to carry you?” Derek didn’t mean to make it sound like he was flirting; ok maybe he did a little, Chris’ cheeks immediately filled with colour.
Lia, on the other hand stiffened. She didn’t have a car.
She was sure everyone at this school was insanely rich including the young doctor whom Chris looked at with stars in his eyes.
“Lia doesn’t have a car. We came through the bus” Chris spoke. Derek, like everyone was surprised by how his voice sounded like.
He shouldn't be feeling the way he felt for a student.
“Well, I could drop you off, if you don’t mind of course”, he said facing Lia.
Chris nodded eagerly. He just felt the need to stay close to the doctor at all times.
Lia sighed. She didn’t like any of this. She felt only a shove is needed to break her completely.
She was so worried about her boy.Derek arrived at the front of Lia’s apartment complex. He didn’t expect them to leave in a place like this but he wasn’t one to judge. He looked at the back seat of his car through the rear mirror to see the beautiful boy already asleep.
Derek knew better than to get involved with a student, a 17 year old at that but he could still compliment him.
Lia tried to wake Chris up.
“Wait, don’t, I could carry him up, if you don’t mind”, he found himself saying.
Derek, that’s his mom.
Lia looked at him warily but she eventually nodded. She was exhausted.
Chris is settled in his bed a while later and he didn’t wake up once, thanks to Derek. He immediately curled up to his stuffed doll. Derek found it cute.
As he proceeded to leave, Lia stopped him. Lia wasn’t oblivious to the interaction between Derek and her son. As long as he didn’t hurt her boy, she didn’t care.
“I see my son has taken a liking to you”
Derek didn’t say anything. He didn’t know where the conversation was leading.
“And since he’s refused to stop attending the academy, I don’t know if I’m asking for much but can you please watch over him?” She looked at him with pleading eyes. She was so scared for her son. It was his first day and a lot already happened.
“Chris is strong but not strong enough. Those kids back there, if they find out about his autism, I’m terrified what they’d do to him”
Lia fought back tears. She didn’t want to cry in front of him.
Derek understood perfectly. He only became a nurse at the school the past year after he got his degree and he’s had to treat a high number of students who got hurt due to barbaric and useless reasons.
“I give you my word. Once I’m there, no harm will come to your son, I promise”
Lia’s heart calmed down a fraction but she was still worried. At least she knew her son had one person looking after him.
