(A/N: hiiiiii I am back. I apologise for leaving abruptly without a trace but I'm back. This is a relatively short chapter but a longer chapter will drop later. Thank you for thirty readsssss!)

Class ended a few minutes later and Chris hurried his way to his next class, History.
Soon, it was lunch break. Chris made his way out of the boring class to see Kathy waiting for him. He almost rolled his eyes but instead put his arms in hers as they walked together to the cafeteria. On their way, they noticed a gathering of students. Kathy wanted to avoid it. She wanted less attention on her and her brother but Chris had other ideas as he pulled her to the crowd.
“Chris”, she whined.
Now he likes social gathering, she thought to herself.
As they drew closer, they heard the conversations earlier.
“Apparently, the new kid painted it, in only forty minutes”
“His name is Chris, isn’t it?”
“Wait, isn’t that Irene in the painting? She’s in my geometry class”
“Overnight spotlight, when will I?”
“I wonder how Irene must be feeling now”
“I heard Mrs Borghese discovered him
Kathy wanted to frown.
Not them offering praises to some rich old hag.
“Come on Chris, let’s go”, Kathy wanted to pull him away. She was over and done with this. She was also starving.
But at that moment, the girl in the painting Irene arrived. Once she sighted Chris, she walked towards him.
Everyone had turned their attention to them and quieted down.
Irene continued to move until she was standing directly in front of Chris. Kathy reluctantly stepped back.
She looked up at him before whispering, “You think I’m beautiful?”
She didn’t receive compliment about her looks much so when the most talked about student in the whole school paints her, she felt on top of the world.
Chris nodded. He honestly did. He thought she was different.  He was enchanted by her look when he first saw her. She had the perfect model face in Chris’s opinion.
Irene smiled.
“I’m Irene”
“Chris”
Everyone’s jaw is on the floor hearing his voice for the first time.
“I knew it, I knew he wasn’t mute”
“His voice is nice to hear, imagine it during sex”
“Don’t make it weird, Avery but yeah you’re right I would come a thousand times”
“Irene you lucky bastard”
Irene’s face brightened up so much. She took another step and cupped his cheeks in her hands. She waited for Chris to stop her but he didn’t, he simply stared at her.
She placed her lips on his and the students made noises of cheering.
Irene had just stolen his first kiss but he didn’t mind. He wasn’t keeping it for anyone special. He didn’t know what to do so he let her take the lead but she pulled away the next second then smiled at him.
“Come on”
They walked together to the cafeteria and the crowd dispersed.
Kathy on the other hand let out a loud gasp. She crossed her hands and pouted.
He had abandoned her.

After school that day, Kathy ignored Chris and he was worried.
What did he do?
Even after they alighted from the bus and started to walk home, she still didn’t talk to him. He tried many times to catch her attention but she wouldn’t budge.
"Kathy", Chris raised his voice.
Kathy stopped abruptly her eyes widening. That was the loudest she's ever heard him speak. But that surprise immediately turned into anger as she turned to face him.
"What?  So now you remember I exist" Kathy narrowed her eyes at him.
Oliver frowned.
"What did I do?"
"You abandoned me.  You left me all alone like a fool and followed that rich girl. So is she your girlfriend now?  And since when have you liked girls?"
Kathy was almost sure Chris was gay. If his previous crushes didn't suggest it, then his current crush on Derek should. But then he could be bisexual like his mom.
Chris simply shrugged not knowing what to say. He didn't know what Irene was to him. He didn't feel anything for her.
"What happened to Derek?" she asked him crossing her arms.
Chris' cheeks immediately covered in colour as he looked away.
Kathy rolled her eyes done with everything, besides her headache was getting worse.
"Whatever, dude"
Chris pouted. He moved closer to her and linked his arm in hers. She frowned rolling her eyes trying to push him off but he wouldn't budge.
"I'm still mad at you"
Chris smiled as they walked home together.
