Chris was in a strange bed. He was in a strange environment. His bed at home was definitely not as comfortable or as soft as the one he was on. His reflex told him to stand and flee but it felt too good which to him was a bad thing because he did everything on reflex. His bed definitely didn't have the warm presence he felt behind him or a hand on his waist. It took two more seconds to realize where he was and why. He couldn't stay at home so his mom brought him here because Kathy...
Kathy.
There was still this black hole in his heart that when it got too overwhelming felt like it would swallow him up but not today. The black hole was still there, sure, but he didn't feel that insistent urge to cry. Maybe it was because he had slept well more than he had in weeks. The reality of how his life was now would come crashing down soon.
Then he remembered the problem at hand. He was on a strange bed - Oliver's bed- and he had slept well. On a normal day, Chris never shared his bed, not even with Kathy but he has slept in another person's bed and had slept well. He couldn't wrap his mind around that fact. It was never possible before.
Then the person - Oliver- moved closer pulling him impossibly close, his back to his chest and then he felt it and his first bodily reaction was to freeze.
Chris had male anatomy. He wasn't a stranger to morning wood but when that said morning wood poked him from behind, it was unusual. Theoretically speaking, Chris knew the in and outs of sex and in his case, gay sex and though he had never tried anything aside from kissing with a man, this was very new and unusual to him. The body behind him moved again and Chris felt it more prominent than ever. He tried to pull out of Oliver's grasp but Oliver wouldn't budge.
"Oliver?" He had no choice but to wake him. He was answered with a groan. It wasn't that Chris was repulsed or anything because again Chris was gay and Oliver was attractive and he had had a minor crush on him one time but he really needed to get up and find something to eat.
"Oliver?" He tried again using his elbow to tap arm and that seemed to do the trick because a few seconds later,
"Holy shit", Oliver yelled from behind him as he scrambled away to the other side of the king size bed.
Chris finally sat up and turned to glance at Oliver whose expression mirrored that of shock and disbelief. Chris was giggling before he could stop himself.
"Huh", Oliver rubbed the back of his neck, the tip of his ears turning red. "I'm sorry, I- usually when someone is in my bed, they're usually my hook up. Fuck, you don't need to know that"
Oliver looked him in the eyes then,
"Did you um sleep well?"
Chris nodded, "Thank you. I'm sorry if I disturbed you last night. I won't come tonight"
"You can come if you want to", Oliver answered a little quickly and looked away his cheeks flushing.
Chris studied him. He had never seen him like this. In fact, the Oliver of the past few weeks was different from the Oliver he knew. It was confusing.
"I'll leave so you can masturbate", he said pointing to the still prominent boner and the next thing, Oliver looked as if he was choking. Okay he was slowly realizing he shouldn't have said that.
"Sorry"
He finally stood up, took his phone from the bedside table before walking out the door.
"Chris?" Oliver's voice called to him. He turned. He opened his mouth as if to say something but closed it again.
"Nevermind"
Chris nodded and left.
Something about that occurrence seemed odd. He just couldn't place a finger on it.
Later that day, around late evening, Chris exited the room to look around. As beautiful and as elegant as the house was, it was very intimidating and...big, very big. It was the biggest building Chris had ever been in. Earlier, in the morning, he almost got lost looking for the dinning table but thankfully, he met Oliver's younger sister (he didn't know Oliver had a sister) who helped him find his way. Well technically, she was his younger sister. The whole family issue was still dancing around in his brain. Emilia seemed nice but Chris had never truly understood kids because though it annoyed him to no end that people sometimes treated him like a child, he still acted like a child. There were so many things he didn't understand about himself and others and that was very frustrating. Right now, he was walking around hoping he would meet Oliver who had gone out earlier since he was the only one he was still comfortable with. The woman of the house, his birth mother, had tried having a conversation with him but it felt odd and she was smiling too much it was bordering on scary. His mother had told him to try and communicate with her but he didn't know how. He hadn't seen Oliver's father anywhere or his wicked grandmother. Why was the house so big?
He continued walking and from where he stood, he could hear distant music coming from a particular room. His curiosity got the better of him and he walked towards that room. If Kathy or his mom knew what he was about to do, he would be chided so bad. He reached the door and quietly opened it to peep in. He just wanted to see. The little he saw had him opening the door wide. The sight before him had him gasping. He was in the most stunning room he had ever seen. He was in heaven. He entered more and that was when he noticed her. Jessica sat on a stool in front of a canvas painting something. She hadn't noticed him yet. Chris had never seen a sight so pleasing.
He saw a full portrait at the other side of the room and he had no choice but to rush there. It was so beautiful.
"Oh Chris, you scared me" he heard her voice but this was more important. He would acknowledge her later. He felt her presence next to him moments later though.
"Oh this, I painted this eight years ago. This is my late mother. In loving memory Charis Greene née Roman. The best person I know"
"It's very beautiful", Chris whispered. And it was. It was one of the best things he had ever seen. There was something about art that just intrigued Chris. It made everything meaningful, more meaningful than it already was.
"Come, let me show you what I've been up to. I think you might like it"
And Chris did like it. He liked this version of Oliver's mother better.
