FOURTEEN YEARS OLD.
She kept following him and it made him uncomfortable.  He had had a tough day already and his mother couldn't pick him up from school which was even worse. At first, he pretended not to see her. He thought she would go away. He just wanted to get home to his mom. The girl didn’t budge and kept following him.
Chris decided he had had enough and turned slowly keeping his head down. He couldn't look up to see what her face said.  The girl stopped too and stood a few feet away not hiding the fact that she had been following him.
She couldn’t be more than 12 years old.  She looked as if a shower would do her good.
Chris took a quick look at her the  immediately looked down slightly rocking where he stood, not saying anything, though he wanted to but didn't really want to.
The girl then smiled.
“You’re cute,"
Cute?
People called him cute all the time, he didn’t understand.
Bunnies are cute, puppies are cute and kittens are cute but him?
“When someone compliments you, you should say thank you, you know?” she crossed her arms still smiling.
Her smile vanished. She was wondering why he didn’t talk at all.
“Are you mute?” her smile immediately returned. “It’s ok. My fourth big brother was too”
Chris finally looked up slightly taking another look at her before dropping his head again. He shook his head to her earlier question.
She nodded still wandering why he was so timid. Her grumbling stomach shook her from that thought.
She looked down and played with the hem of her dirty sweater.
“What’s your name? I’m Kathy”
Chris. Everybody called him Chris.
“Chris”, he rasped out. He didn’t use his voice much so it came out rather croaked.
Kathy smiled, “You have a nice voice.  You see Chris, I haven’t eaten anything in a few days and I’m starving”, her cheeks suddenly flushed as she looked down again embarrassed pulling at the wool of her dirty sweater.
She really was starving.
Chris looked up to stare at her again. He really wanted to go home.
He slowly walked towards her. Kathy looked up and saw him walking to her causing her to flush more. He just wanted to go home. When he got closer, he stretched out his hand to her.  She stared at it for a second before she placed her hand in his and wordlessly, they both walked away.

FOURTEEN YEARS OLD.
Oliver quietly sneaked into his parents' house trying his best not to wake anybody up. If his parents discovered the state he was in, he was going to get into so much trouble. First, he reeked of alcohol. Though he hadn’t drank, he had been around people who did. He was also certain he reeked of female perfume. His girlfriend, Shelby who dragged him to the party had asked to go further and they did.
He had lost his virginity at 14.
His girlfriend was a few months older than him at 15.
It was sloppy and they both obviously lacked experience but he still felt good and hoped she did too. Shelby wasn’t a virgin so she probably did, he wouldn’t know.
He'd heard girls tended to fake their moans.
The light being suddenly turned on caught Oliver off guard that he jumped five feet in the air.
He focused and saw his grandmother staring at him.
He heaved a sigh of relief.
He decided to ignore her.
The old woman was probably sleep walking.
As he proceeded to walk towards the stairs,
“Where were you?” her voice rang through out the quiet halls.
“Out” he started to walk again.
“Oliver, stop right there”
Oliver fought the urge to groan. His grandmother was nice to him unlike his parents. She gave him everything he asked for and he didn’t want to lose that privilege. He just wished she wasn’t up in his business so much, but he could pretend.
With his best smile that didn’t reach his eyes, he turned to face her,
“Yes, Grandma”
“No, boy it’s not going to work today. It’s 2 in the morning. Where were you?”
Oliver, at that point wanted to scream.
He then pouted and gave his best puppy dog eyes. It worked when he was younger, perhaps it would now. He saw her expression soften so he added more effort.
“Please don’t tell mom and dad”
“Oliver”
“Please. I promise, I won’t sneak out or come home this late but please don’t tell my parents”
He didn’t mean a word he said. He was not particularly scared of his parents per say, he just didn’t want the stress that night. He was tired and just wanted to rest.
“Fine”
Oliver smiled, he almost jumped. He proceeded to run up the stairs but her voice stopped him.
“Wait, wait. If you ever do something like this again, I’ll hand you straight to your father”
He nodded eager to leave.
“Oliver?” she warned him with her eyes.
Creepy.
“I promise”
Lisa sighed. She loved her grandson. He was so precious to her but she was scared of the way he was moving.
“Run along and make sure you take a shower. You reek”
He was already up the stairs.
He was fourteen and already familiar with alcohol.
Lisa was worried.
