EXECUTION DAY Chapter Eight
"Broaden your minds, you must look beyond! The art of crystal gazing is in the clearing of the inner eye, only then can you see!"
Sage groaned frustratedly as Professor Trelawney moved away from their table and over to another, her face about only a millimetre away from the reflective rim of the crystal ball they were learning about in their divination class that day. Whilst Lawrence and Sage struggled immensely with the topic and every lesson provided, Arabella seemed to grasp it with ease. She proved to be very talented at the subject, even though most students did despise it, but at least she came out with the very best grades for Divination in the year if not the whole school.
"Give it here," Lawrence tutted, dragging an overly large and incredibly dusty book over across the table as he scanned through it, "I think I just have to stare at it and it should work or something, that's it says in the book..."
Arabella grew bored of Lawrence's constant mutterings over the work and after a little while of prying her eyes open to not make herself fall asleep, she drew her attention over to another table where her best friends Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley were seated, all of them looking equally as bored as herself. Their heads instantly snapped up from the desk as soon as Trelawney appeared at their table, staring intently into the ball.
"Oh, do you mind me trying?" Hermione took one quick glance at the ball and looked back over towards Trelawney, "The grim, possibly." She quickly replied, her tone dripping with sarcasam.
The professor sighed, shaking her head slightly, "My dear from the moment you stepped into my class I had sensed that you did not posses the proper spirit for the noble art of divination. You see here, you may be young in years but your heart is as shrivelled as an old maid's, your soul as dry as the pages of the books to which you so desperately cleave.." Hermione gasped in horror, edging away from Trelawney and picking up her bag. She stood up and walked off, knocking the crystal ball off the stand as she did so, leaving it to roll out of the room and into Merlin knows where, "Have I said something?"
"No shit-" Arabella huffed, collecting her things and running out of the classroom as the others followed behind her. The bell for the end of the lessons had been rung, and students were spilling out of the classroom doors and into the heavilly packed corridors.
She tried searching for Hermione, thinking that standing up at the very top of a steep and winding staircase would give her an advantage to see those down below her bur no, she couldn't be seen by her anywhere. Arabella ended up waiting in a hollowed out window off to the side of the staircase and met back up with Ron and Harry who looked far less concerned about Hermione than she did.
"She's gone mental Hermoine has, not that she wasn't always mental. but now it's out in the open for everyone to see!" Ron ranted, sighing and shrugging his shoulders a lot, "Oh hiya Elle."
