SAGE
Chapter Thirty
"-And that's why I told him that we're just much better off without each other, and he stormed off without even speaking to me, can you believe it!" Sage scoffed, her arms folded across her chest as the two girls scurried through the Great Hall just in time for tea, scrounging the remaining few seats left within the tables.
"Well to be perfectly honest with you, you did just completely shatter the poor boy's heart Sage," Arabella laughed, dragging a hand through her hair using the other one to nudge her friend with, "now, you really need to move on and just forget about him. Oh I know, maybe we can have a girls night tonight?"
"Of course," The girl grinned, a sudden hint of mischief making its way across her face, "And you could possibly take up that offer of-"
"Absolutely not." She stopped Sage mid-sentence with perhaps a little more force than necessary.
"I'm just saying," Her face pulled into a mock-annoyed frown, a slight smile curving her lips, "your roots are growing through again, and I'm basically a professional okay?"
"I'm not letting you within a mile of my hair after last summer."
"Fine." Sage huffed, her pout slowly slipping away as her eyes caught on to something, "Oh my god, did I tell you about what happened first break?"
"You've told me a lot of things today, and I've barely had the chance to process anything you've said, so probably." Arabella shrugged, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Well, Harry had a massive argument with Malfoy, you know, and then he was just about to hex him before Moody came over and turned him into a ferret!"
"A- a ferret, no fucking way-" She giggled, her hand instantly covering her mouth, "why the hell was I not there to see this."
"The best thing I've seen all year, but Moody got into so much trouble off McGonnagall though, I didn't exactly know who to laugh at," Sage smirked, eyeing their half-terrifying defence against the dark arts teacher who had just took a generous swig of his flask, "and that's what you call an alcoholic."
"I mean you never know, it might not be alcohol." Arabella shrugged, just as the two girls were forced to walk around the other side of the table in search of some seats.
"Oh yeah, and what are the chances of that?"
"Slim to none." She grinned gleefully, but as a certain fluffy-haired Hufflepuff quickly approached her and Sage, it soon faded from her lips, replaced with a ghostly shock.
"Hey." He nodded to her on his way past, and unable to shake the look from her face, Arabella soon replied.
"Hi."
Arabella scorned herself mentally, she was only ever trying to be nice, she couldn't exactly have ignored him could she. He was a fairly nice boy sure enough, yet deep down she couldn't shake the remerging feeling of dread and awkwardness that she had felt a few weeks prior. What the fuck was up with her, and more importantly, what the fuck was up with him?
"Woah okay, so your not going to tell me what the hell just happened?!" Sage exclaimed, as Arabella thwacked her arm to shut her up incase Diggory was nearby, "sorry, but Cedric Diggory has a fat crush on you, it's so obvious."
"Wait, what." Her face dropped a little, surely he wouldn't, he couldn't. Arabella struggled coping with the fact that the two of them were just being good friends, let alone anything more, "no, he doesn't-"
"If you say so." Sage taunted, raising her eyebrow, just as the two took their seats, right next to Harry who looked painfully lonely. The girl rolled her eyes as she caught sight of Potter, attempting a conversation with a small group fifth years in front of her.
