DAD?
Chapter Nine

It was a good few minutes before the trio had returned from Hagrids hut. They were trailing the steep, cobbled path back up to the eerie and almost ancient stones that protruded rather abnormally from the grass banking. Arabella had been sat there waiting and picking at the grass, not willing to leave her friends behind.

They were just as thrilled to see her waiting for them too, she could see Hermione's saddened hazel eyes flicker with happiness for a moment before returning back to the melancholic state they were stuck in.

Of course, how could she have not figured it out already. Judging by the grim and sincere looks plastered about everyone's faces, Buckbeak was to be executed and that was why the three Gryffindors appeared a little more gloomy and duller than usual, Hermione especially.

Her normally once vibrant eyes that had been so full of life were now sunken and glistening with tears every time the sun would hit them, making them sparkle ever so more. She would not look anyone in the eyes, let alone actually look directly at anyone or even speak. Arabella assumed she was too upset over the whole executioning situation to bother speaking to anyone in the group.

Hermione's fear seemed to fade away from her that moment, as she a had opened her lips and attempted to speak but the eerie slice of metal through bone echoed through the valley, compelling her to shut her up completely. Her arms were flung around Ron, Harry awkwardly joining the hug too.

Arabella noticed the three confided in each other a lot, emotionally and verbally. She couldn't exactly say the same about herself however. While she was incredibly close with Hermione, Ron and especially Harry, she found that her friendship with Potter had been falling apart ever since he decided to sit in the same compartment as the other two in the first year.

She didn't mind though, at least she had Sage and Lawrence. But even Lawrence had been ditching the two of them recently, she wasn't exactly surprised though. In a horrid world like theirs, a boy hanging around with a group of girls constantly would stir up certain ... rumours.

"Ow!" Ron exclaimed suddenly, startling Arabella and causing her head to whip round to where Ron was stood clenching his finger, "He bit me- Scabbers bit me!"

Harry's mouth gawped open at this, the normally well behaved rat was now scurrying off and away from the group and somewhere into the hills.

It wasn't far away enough for them not to see it though.

Arabella was the first to start chasing Scabbers, following it's trail closely, "Come on Ron, it's your bloody rat, why the shitting hell should I have to run after it for you?"

"Bloody hell." Ron muttered.

He began running, followed by Harry and Hermione who were eager to catch up with the two of them. Ron had just received his rat back after losing it for a month or two and they weren't ready to go through that again.
