2. Sakurai Ryō: Amorous Cuddles
You were clingy. There was nothing you loved more than to cuddle up with someone, whether it’s in private where no one could see you or in public for everyone else to notice. PDA didn’t bother you and you were fine as long as you could cling.
Your boyfriend, Sakurai, thought differently. His cheeks would turn pink when you threw yourself at him at home and his entire face and ears would flush scarlet in public. He would try to gently pry you off in front of others, but one look into your childish gaze made him falter and whisper an apology.
Sakurai went over to your house on a chilly day because you were alone. He had a couple of bentos in his bag that he prepared for lunch and knocked on your door with his free hand. You threw open the door and he became completely and utterly confused when he saw you.
It was like you were dressed to go play in the snow. Your hair was tucked under a hat and you were wearing thick sweatpants and two jackets. Your brightly colored socks matched the gloves on your hands and he glanced over his shoulder at the weather. It was early spring so everything was slushy and the only cold thing left was the icy breeze.
“Hi, Ryō-kun!” You chirped, throwing your arms around him and pecking his cheek. “How are you doing?”
Sakurai returned the hug, a small sorry escaping him when you squeezed his waist. “I’m fine. Um, (Y/N)-chan, what are you wearing?” He quickly added, “I’m sorry, that sounded mean! You look perfect, but why are you wearing winter clothing?” He bowed his head. “Ah, sorry!”
You pulled him inside and he shivered as he took off his shoes. Somehow your house was colder than outside! He zipped up his sweater and held onto the bentos for warmth.
“You don’t need to apologize, Ryō-kun. Anyways, the heater broke so my family is off buying a new one.” You explained as he followed you into the kitchen. He sat down while you grabbed chopsticks and plopped in front of him.
“You could’ve come over to my house, my mother wouldn’t have minded.” He replied. He opened the bento and you smiled when you smelled the delicious aroma coming from the cutely decorated foods.
Eerily similar to Kagami, you inhaled the food while chatting brightly about whatever topic came to your mind. Sakurai ate quietly and commented when needed, amused yet disturbed at your voracious appetite. The warmth of the tempura and rice heated up your insides and you were panicked when the cold started to seep in again.
You hurried around the table and hugged Sakurai, burying your face against his neck. If you weren’t still eating you would’ve clambered into his lap and clung to him like a baby koala. “It’s so cold!”
Sakurai’s face turned red and he turned his face away in embarrassment. “(Y/N)-chan, do you want me to get blankets out of the cabinets?”
“No, just cuddle with me,” you mumbled into his jacket.
“Right here on the floor?”
“Let’s go to my room and share my bed, then.”
“E-EH?”
Sakurai was a blushing mess as you tugged him to your room and whispered under his breath how it was improper. You became one with your bed and catapulted into your blankets, burying yourself in the cold cloth and blinking owlishly when Sakurai awkwardly stood in front of you.
“Aren’t you going to join me?” You asked, patting the side beside you. “I won’t bite.” You winked at him and smirked. “Unless you want me to~”
“Please don’t,” Sakurai murmured. Stiffer than a cardboard, he sat on the bed and squeaked when you pulled him under your pile of blankets with you. “Ah! (Y/N)-chan, please don’t do that so suddenly.”
“Relax, o sweet child of mine,” you cooed as you squeezed him tighter. “Isn’t this better than freezing our butts off?”
“Yes,” he obediently replied.
Moments turned to minutes in which he sat there cuddling with you. Sakurai eased into your hold and rested his cheek against the top of your head, intertwining his legs and fingers with yours. He shut his eyelids and relished the feeling of you in his arms.
Everyone thought he was weak and pitiful because of his kindness and constant fretting. They were right in a way, he supposed. He was a worrywart that couldn’t stand up for himself unless he was in the heat of a basketball game. But he certainly wasn’t weak. Sakurai had been working out at the gym every chance he got; it started when he started dating you.
You were walking home during the evening when a group of older high schoolers wouldn’t leave you alone. Not thinking it through all of the way, Sakurai butted his way in with his clutch time persona in tow. There was a brief fight that ended with him getting badly beaten up, yet he was proud enough to say they weren’t that better off.
Sakurai smiled at the memory of you scolding him while fixing him up. He apologized profusely then asked you to be his girlfriend a week later. “(Y/N)-chan, do you remember the date I asked you to be my girlfriend on?”
His reply was a snore. Sakurai opened his eyes and lifted his head to see your sleeping face. Your hair was a mess, your (H/C) locks strewn across the pillow. He tucked back your silky strands off of your face and let his fingertips linger on your soft (S/C) skin. You were a sleeping beauty to him and he felt his heart flutter because you were his.
Fixing the blanket, he let out a sigh of happiness and joined you in the dream world.
