I weaved my bike through the streets of the city. I was probably way over the speed limit, but I didn't care.A car honked at me as I made a swift left turn into the hospital parking lot, but I just flipped them off. I parked in the parking garage, paid at the gate, and ran into the hospital.
I went to the front desk. "I'm here for Naya Gardner."
"Who are you to her?" The nurse asked me.
"None of your fucking business. Now tell me where her room is."
"I'm sorry sir, but she's in serious condition. We are-"
I cut her off. "Check your system right now." I pointed to the computer.
She checked the computer and the expression on her face instantly changed. "Sorry, sir. Follow me." The nurse stood up and led me to the room.
I told Scar to request a private room away from everybody else. And only essential personnel allowed. Fortunately, we knew a doctor at the hospital who helped us out whenever someone in the gang got seriously injured. No questions asked.
She stopped at one of the rooms and pointed inside. I was about to step in, but she stopped me.
"I can tell she means a lot to you. I'm just warning you that she's been through a lot. She's unconscious now and we aren't sure when she will wake up."
I nodded and walked into the room. I saw Scar at first sitting on one of the chairs, his head in his hands. I walked further in, a curtain was blocking the bed from direct sight.
I approached the bed and saw her.
Scar stood up. "I'm sorry, man."
Naya was laying there, eyes closed. She was hooked up to a bunch of machines. Her left eye was swollen, with purple bruising all around it. There was a cut on her left cheek. Both her cheeks were pink. I noticed gauze wrapped around both her arms.
The fucking drugs.
Even though she was so injured, she still looked beautiful.
I approached her bed and gently held her hand and whispered. "Darling. I'm so sorry." I turned to my friend. "Scar, how did you find her?"
"I think we should sit down." Scar sat in the chair behind him. I grabbed a chair and put it next to Naya's bed, still holding her hand.
"I was at my house. And you know that old abandoned house down my street." I nodded. "I saw a bunch of cars going there. I thought it was weird because it's been unoccupied for years. I went over and watched from a distance. That's when I saw the Wolves. They must have been hiding out there. I heard one of the guys say that the police were coming. In 5 minutes, all of them had deserted the place. I sneaked inside and that's when I saw her." I looked down at Naya. She was still peacefully sleeping. "She was sprawled on the floor. I saw bottles of Venom all around her and a few syringes. I'm guessing they left her there so the police would find her and just think she was a druggie."
"Bitches." I mumbled under my breath.
"I quickly carried her out and made my way back to my car before the police showed up. I called you while driving here."
I looked at Naya.
God. She's been through so much. And I've done nothing but add to her pain.
I turned to Scar. "You should go home. Did you tell Rocco and Violet?"
"I'll call them now." He stood up. "Also, Damien. I'm sure you haven't eaten anything all day. Go down to the cafeteria and get something." I nodded my head as he left the room.
