"I'll be back by four, Belle," Damien said as I got off his bike. We were parked out front of my new job and it was my first day.

"Ok. Bye, my love." I smiled and gave him a quick peck.

As I turned around to walk away, I saw two guys walking towards the office entrance. They looked at me and smiled, and I did the same. Just then, Damien grabbed my hand and spun me to face him. He smashed his lips onto mine, and after a few seconds I gave in. Our mouths moved synchronously against each other.

"Ok. Ok." I pulled away from him. "I have to go now."

He leaned in to whisper into my ear. "I can't wait to take that sexy outfit off your body once you get home."

I gasped. "Bye, Damien." I quickly made my way to the door before he could keep me any longer.

"Bye, darling." He yelled out.

I walked in and made my way to the front desk. "Hi. Is Mr.Prescott here? It's my first day and I'm supposed to meet him."

The lady at the desk pointed towards his office. "He's just in there."

"Thank you." I walked towards the door she pointed to and knocked.

A few seconds later, a voice called out. "Come in."

I walked in and saw Zachary sitting at his desk. He wasn't too young or too old. Maybe in his mid-thirties.

"Hi. I'm Naya. I'm starting as the office assistant today."

"Ah, yes, yes. Come sit." He pointed to the seat across from his desk, and I sat down. "So, your responsibilities here are pretty straightforward. You'll be arranging files and organizing and delivering projects to everyone here. Sometimes you'll even work at the front desk. And we may need help with advertising campaigns. I know you have some background in marketing." I nodded. "Any questions?"

"No. I understand everything."

"Ok. Very nice." Mr. Prescott grabbed a file on the desk and started straightening it out.

"Oh! Is that something by Ivan Myers?" I pointed to the file.

He looked at it and looked up at me, smiling. "Yes. We received this yesterday. We're hoping for it to be published before the year ends."

"Oh, wow. I didn't know he was still writing. I feel like it's been years since I've read one of his books. He's one of my favorites."

"Yeah. His last book was published almost 3 years ago. What's your favorite book of his?"

"Oh." I pursed my lips together. "That's hard. Into the Night was such a good one. I feel like it's such a classic and really gets you thinking about life. But I love mysteries, so The Magnifying has got to be at the top of the list. I especially loved that plot twist between Macy and Jordan. Oh, and-"

Zachary started laughing.

"Oh my gosh." I put my hand over my mouth, and then put it down. "Was I rambling? God. This is so embarrassing. It's my first day, and I've already made a fool of myself."

"Naya, Naya. It's fine. I'm actually really impressed. Most of the people who work here aren't as enthusiastic about books." He leaned over his desk and put a hand in front of his mouth, and whispered. "Now I finally have someone I can talk to when new works come in. No one understands the excitement."

I laughed. "Of course, Mr.Prescott."

He scoffed. "Oh. You can call me Zach. I already know I'm going to like you. So who are your other favorite authors?"

"Oh, I like Mary Jacobs, Carl Dixon. Uh-"

Zach interrupted me. "Mary is a favorite of mine too. Oh, what was that book she wrote? We actually got to edit it here. It was the one with the bird or something."

"The Flight Before! My favorite part was when he brought the bird to the airport and..."

Zach and I probably talked about our favorite authors and books for another 20 minutes.

"Well, we better go outside before everyone thinks we're dead or something." He stood up. "I'll introduce you to everyone."

"You don't have to do that. You probably have meetings to attend." I stood up as well.

"Nonsense. And my next meeting is in an hour." Zach opened the door and walked out. He walked over to the lady at the front desk. "Nancy. This is Naya. She's the new office assistant. She'll mostly be working with you."

And for the rest of the morning, I was introduced to everyone else at the office.

"Hii!" I scurried outside the office to Damien who was waiting on his bike.

"Well, hi to you too." Damien wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. He kissed my forehead. "How was your first day?"

"It was great!" I put the helmet on and got onto the back of the bike. "I'll tell you when we get home."

We got back to the apartment after picking up some ice cream.

"And then I started rambling like a lunatic!" I sat down mermaid style on the couch, with my back against the armrest.

Damien came out of the kitchen, holding two spoons for the carton of ice cream, and was laughing.

"Why are you laughing?" I grabbed the spoon from him.

"Cause I know how cute you get when you ramble." Damien was still laughing.

"Yeah, yeah. But then Zach was-"

"Zach?" Damien questioned.

"My boss. Zachary Prescott. But he said I could call him Zach." I explained. Damien nodded. "And then...." I continued telling Damien about my day.

"Well, you had quite the day, didn't you?"

I nodded. "I did! I can't wait to go back. It's so exciting to finally have a real job."

Damien leaned over, putting each arm on the armrest behind me, caging me between him.

"What?" I giggled as he hovered over me.

"I missed you all day." He leaned in closer. "You're telling me it's going to be like this 5 days a week."

I grabbed his face. "Unfortunately yes, my love. I'm a busy woman." I brought his face close to mine, gently bringing our lips together.
