Matteo and I stood in front of each other, fists in front of us, waiting for the other to take a swing. Both gangs circled around us. Rocco gave me a pep talk before, saying I didn't have to do this, but I ignored him.
We had agreed on no weapons.
I had wanted to call Naya and Violet before all this, but I knew what they would say. They would tell me to come back home, even if it means giving up to the wolves and potentially putting us up to more danger.
I couldn't handle the wait anymore, and I swung first, hitting Matteo's cheek causing him to stumble back.
He regained composure quickly and looked at me with an evil grin. He lunged at me, throwing a punch at my chest. I only faltered back, but it wasn't strong enough to send me falling.
I grabbed Matteo's shoulders and kneed him in the stomach. Then I threw an uppercut into his jaw, hearing a bone-crunching sound.
Matteo shook his face, anger evident in his eyes. He came at me lifting his right arm up, and I brought my left arm up to block, but instead, he brought his left leg up to kick me at my side with a roundhouse kick.
I groaned at the hit my side took, and Matteo took that to his advantage as he kicked me on my other side.
I recovered and went back into a fighting stance. I threw consecutive punches at his chest and stomach and then ended with a powerful back kick sending Matteo flying backward and hitting the ground with a thud.
I kicked Matteo's side and straddled his hips. I grabbed his throat, tightening my grasp around it, and watched as he squirmed and his face became pale.
I heard my guys cheering, while his men were booing and yelling for their leader to do something.
Matteo tried to pry my hands off his neck, but I kept them on.
When that didn't work, he used his knees to hit me in the back. My grasp on him loosened since I was still recovering from my back being smacked in the wall earlier. The same electric shock traveled down my spine.
The man in front of me took that to his advantage, and grabbed my arms pinning to my sides, and rolled us over so that now I was under him.
He looked down at me, like a shark weighting for its prey. Anger scored his eyes. Seeing me dead would be his dream, but I wouldn't let that happen.
He threw two consecutive punches at my face, and I brought my hand up to uppercut him. Instead of faltering like last time, he took it as a way to use more strength on me.
Matteo wasn't this strong before. I wouldn't be surprised if Fahl has been giving him something.
The man grabbed my hands and pinned them above my head. He got off my stomach, but still kept a strong grip on my arms. Suddenly, he lifted my arms up, bringing my whole body up into a sitting position. That's when he brought his foot to my face, kicking under my jaw, causing me to fall back and bang my head against the floor.
I realized the entire room was silent.
I winced in pain. My entire body felt electrified. All the nerves shooting signals throughout.
Pain. Pain. Pain.
I tried to get up, but Matteo kicked me causing me to fall on my stomach.
I slowly lifted my lower half up, as I was in a half-pushup position. Then, I brought my left knee up to my chest, and my right knee was still on the ground. I dragged my palms against the floor closer to my body, so I could lift myself up.
