The door of the office opened, but I didn't turn around because I was carrying a bunch of boxes and didn't want them to fall.
"Excuse me." I heard a very familiar voice say.
Nancy at the front desk spoke up. "Can I help you?"
"Yes. I'm looking for my girlfriend." I whipped my head around to see the individual, and the boxes I was holding fell to the floor.
"Uh. Y-you're gonna have to be a little more specific." Nancy said.
"Oh. My bad. Future Naya Amante. Goes by Naya Gardner right now, though." My boyfriend looked up at me and winked.
My cheeks were probably so red, as I turned away from his direction.
"Oh. Looks like she's right there!" Nancy yelled out. "Naya. Your, uh, boyfriend is here."
I slowly turned around and awkwardly smiled. I'm gonna kill him. "Oh. Thank you, Nancy. I'll be right over."
I quickly picked up the boxes and went to the backroom to put them away. I grabbed my purse and slowly walked over to Damien who was smirking at me.
"What are you doing?" I hissed at him as we walked out.
"What? I'm just picking you up." Damien said innocently.
"Now they're all gonna start asking me a bunch of questions about us during lunch break." I leaned in to whisper into his ear, even though we were outside. "They're the type of ladies to plan your whole wedding and not leave you alone about it."
Damien just chuckled."How was today?" He handed the bike helmet to me.
"Tiring. There was a huge pileup of files to sort, so that took me two hours. And then I had to assist with posters. But, I'm done for the weekend." I smiled and put the helmet on.
"Good. I can have you all to myself." Damien revved the engine of his bike.
The week went by smoothly, and it was finally Friday evening. I had gone to work today and had to stay late since I missed the last couple of days. I was reluctant to tell Damien because of our past fight, but he told me it was totally fine. Both of us were working on better communication in our relationship. In return for my long hours, I told him I would spend the entire weekend with him and only open my emails once a day.
Getting back to the apartment took longer because there was Friday evening traffic.
"Where's Violet?" I walked into the kitchen.
"She's at Jake's, but she'll be back tonight," Damien answered and I nodded.
"Come on." Damien grabbed my hand just as I was about to grab a carton of ice cream from the freezer.
"Damien," I whined. "I wanted that." I looked behind me and stretched my hand, but Damien pulled me to the bedroom.
"You can eat later, darling. Now close your eyes."
"Why?" I asked.
"Just do it." Damien walked towards the bathroom.
I closed my eyes, and he came behind me and put his hands over my eyes. I heard him kick open the bathroom door.
"Ok. Open." Damien pulled his hands away, and I opened my eyes to see (and smell) such a gorgeous sight.
There were rose petals all over the bathroom, and the lights were dimmed. There were a few scented candles on the counters and floor, giving the room a pleasant scent of vanilla. I looked over to the bathtub to see it filled with water and foam, and more rose petals sprinkled on top.
