CHAPTER 13
Busy

Krystal's new summer collection launch passed by successfully. Throughout the whole event, my heart was racing. But when everything turned out very well, it jumped out from joy. The whole two months of sleepless nights because of preparation were all worth it. Seeing the smile of the attendees were fulfilling. It was like everything's turning out good for me—like I was already on the right path.

"For our first success!" Laila said as we made a toast.

We didn't really drink.

I knew a bit of the history of Krystal's because it was all over the news before. The tragedy that happened to their company, along with the Cortez Law Firm.

"You're the event organizers of this event, right?" she asked, smiling as she looked at the three of us.

"Yes," Laila enthusiastically answered.

Ms. Natallie—the current CEO of the clothing brand—warmly smiled at us before spreading her hand towards us.

"You did an amazing job," she complimented. "Thank you so much for the efforts."

I was also smiling as I shook her hand. It was indeed overwhelming to meet someone's successful at a very young age. She's beautiful and has a kind heart.

"It was nothing. It was our work to make the launch extra-special," Larry replied.

The little chit-chat with Ms. Natallie ended for about twenty minutes. She said she has a flight, so we let her go. Muli kaming naiwang tatlo.

"I'll take a break tomorrow. I need to rest," Laila uttered as we walked towards the parking lot.

**********

Mom welcomed me with a smile as I stepped into our house. I asked her how many times if she'd come, but she always answered no. I know I'm too old para magtampo, but what could I do? I couldn't stop myself from feeling what I'm feeling.

"I didn't really mean to come. Your tita—Eros' mom asked me to come with her. I couldn't say no," palusot niya.

I only nodded my head, not sure what to say.

"Fine!" she exclaimed. "I did it on purpose. I didn't tell you that I'd come because I wanted to surprise you," she reasoned out. "You're my only daughter. You are my baby. I wanted to support you. I wanted to see you do what you really love. I wanted to see you smile while doing what you love to do."

I stopped in my tracks after hearing what she said. Instantly, I felt guilty. She's my mother. I should've just understood her—like I always do.

"I'm sorry, mom. I'm just tired," I apologized.
