To most people C/N was an extra character in the background of their stories, maybe even a minor side character, but not to Y/N. To Y/N they were the main character, the whole world, the most important part in the plot. If it weren't for C/N and their gorgeous grin, Y/N's story wouldn't be the pining romance it was. Everything new she learned about them was subconsciously mentally written down and archived for future use, since details on the main character were incredibly important.
Little did she know, she was their main character as well.

The pair were best friends, and everyone around them could tell that there was more than just platonic feelings between them. Everyone but the two themselves, who were completely blind to the fact their romantic feelings were mutual. People saw it in the way Y/N ran up to C/N every day with a big grin on her face, ready to greet them with a big warm hug. People saw it in the way C/N would return the hug with an equally huge grin, before showing her the baked goods they made the night before. But most importantly, people saw it in the loving gaze they gave one another.

It reached the point where another of Y/N's friends, F/N, decided to take matters into her own hands.
"You need to confess to C/N." She sat down opposite Y/N in the canteen.
"What?"
"Everyone knows you like them, they definitely like you too - tell them."
"No, I can't-"
"Why not?"
"What if it doesn't end well?"
« But what if it doesn't end well?
Would you still stay? »
"You know, what if they don't want to stay friends?"
"Y/N, they would never do that to you, they're your best friend and nothing will change that."
Y/N sighed, "No, I'll just fuck it up, like I always do."
« What if I fuck it up like I always do
When my shit gets in the way? »
"You're not gonna fuck it up - look, they're over there - go, now."
"But-"
"No buts."

"H- Hi, C/N," she stuttered, making them frown.
"Why're you stuttering? You good?" they said, moving closer to them, "You never stutter."
"Yeah, I'm- I'm fine!"
