C/N had gone on a cruise ship holiday for two weeks during the school term. Most people were jealous of him, and wanted nothing more than to be in his place, but Y/N saw it quite differently. She had a huge paranoia around the risk of cruise ships sinking, and was only now realising how much she actually cared about the wellbeing of C/N.

He had always been quite blatant about his feelings towards her, but had never explicitly asked her out. Y/N, as well as her fear of cruise ships, had a huge fear of commitment. She was constantly paranoid about whether or not she genuinely liked the person. For a good a couple months, she had been having that very crisis with C/N.

The day after he left, Y/N found herself sat in her bedroom after school impatiently waiting for his first cruise ship instagram post to confirm his safety. As she stared at her phone screen, her heart seemed to explode in anticipation. It was at that moment she realised just how deeply she was in love with him.

(you have no idea how tempted i was to write "it was at that moment she realised... she fucked up.")

Suddenly the fear of commitment washed away from her body, and while that was a relief, this new revelation magnified the fear of cruise ships. Anxious thoughts about C/N not returning safely swarmed through her mind like a plague. She already missed him immensely.

Reluctantly peeling her eyes away from the device, Y/N caught sight of the clean stack of clothes by her chest of drawers. A few layers down was a jumper that didn't appear to be hers, yet still seemed incredibly familiar. It only took a few seconds for her to recognise it as a hoodie C/N had left behind one time he came over to work on a partnered homework project.

Without thinking, Y/N shot up from her desk chair and darted across the room. She grabbed the hoodie roughly, making the clothes above it fall to the floor, and raised it to her nose to inhale its smell deeply. Despite having been through the wash, it still held the comforting essence of C/N.

She wore it to school the next day, and the day after that, and the day after that. Y/N wore the hoodie, or at least kept it on her person, constantly. Even as the C/N smell faded, she refused to part from the navy blue jumper. Needless to say, B/N questioned the attire on the fourth or fifth day.

"You've been wearing that for days now!" were her exact words, "Why not mix it up a little?"

Y/N didn't have the courage to tell her the truth, so just told a white lie of it being her new favourite hoodie from a charity shop. B/N seemed skeptical, but didn't say anything more on the matter.

By the time the two weeks had passed by agonisingly slowly, the hoodie was practically a brand new body part of Y/N's. And the nerves inside of her were on the point of imploding. He was due to get home really late at night, but was expected at school the following day. Naturally, Y/N got little to no sleep that night. On one hand she wanted to text him and make sure he got back safely, but on the other hand she wanted him to get a good night's sleep after  such a long journey.

Her awkwardness prevented her from messaging C/N.

So, when the Monday morning rolled around, Y/N was dressed and ready to leave in a flash. She was out of the house before C/N had even woken up back at his own home. But, when he did eventually step through the gates with an exhausted facial expression and very relaxed clothes, Y/N's heart soared to the stars.

She practically sprinted towards him, the fact she roughly pushed his friends out of the way an irrelevant piece of information. Clinging on to his chest, Y/N nearly crushed his bones as she buried her face into his chest and squeezed as tightly as possible.

"Woah, woah, someone missed me," he chuckled, stiffly returning the embrace.

"I was worried sick!" she said, her voice muffled, "Cruise ships always make me paranoid and I don't want you injured! Or... or even dead..."

She finally removed her face from his chest and gazed up at him, but didn't move her arms in the slightest. "Didn't realise you cared so much about me," he cooed, booping her nose.

"Don't ever go away for that long ever again." Embarrassment was out of the window at this point. She had dove in head first, and might as well go full-on now she was there.

"Okay..." he replied, scrunching up the material of the jumper, "Is that my hoodie your wearing?"

"She's been wearing it non-stop the past two weeks," B/N, who was apparently now present, spoke.

C/N grinned down at Y/N, "Wow, you really are obsessed with me."

"Don't leave me ever again," she repeated, her words shorter and more simple this time.

"Never," he said gently, sealing the deal with a quick peck of her lips.
