School camping trips were fun when you reached the age the teachers let you fend for yourselves: s'mores round the fire, spooky stories, getting drunk, collapsing in your tents... Y/N was down for all of it. And luckily that was the situation she found herself in as she and her friends set up in a clearing in the woods about an hour from home.
Her assigned group consisted of her, B/N, F/N, C/B/N, C/F/N and C/N: the latter being the very boy that made her flustered and a stuttering mess. The mixture of joy and panic that filled her heart when she found out he would be camping with her was indescribable.
Y/N pulled out the three-person tent she would be sharing with the girls, and began prepping the collapsible poles as B/N and F/N unfolded the tent material. Across from her, she could see C/N working on the same task as her; putting the folded poles together. The distraction made her fail to notice B/N tripping up on a pole and making it flick up and whack Y/N in the face. Her hands immediately went to cover her nose as she stepped back.
"Holy- fuck!" she cursed, finding herself falling backwards into a sitting position on the grass.
"Shit! Sorry!" B/N said, running over to her. Y/N cautiously removed her hands so her best friend could see the damage, and was disappointed to find out that her hands were covered in blood.
"Looks like a bad nosebleed," C/F/N commented, the other two boys stood behind him.
Y/N huffed, pointing at B/N, "She's the offender!"
"Right..." C/B/N said, "Anyway, B/N, help Y/N clean up, we'll help F/N put your tent up."
To the side of the clearing, there was a small tree stump with a smooth surface. It was ideal to use as a mini table, so B/N set up the first aid kit on it as Y/N leaned forward and pinched her nose. A good ten minutes passed before the bleeding stopped, finally allowing B/N to clean up the blood and place a plaster over the bridge of Y/N's nose. It was Summer, so the sun had already been setting when they began putting the tents up; now, however, the clearing was almost entirely plunged into darkness. Gratefully, the boys and F/N had already completed their task.
Two logs were either side of a campfire F/N had just lit, one of them shorter than the other. B/N took a seat by F/N on the shorter log, all three boys perched opposite on the longer one. Y/N looked either side exasperatedly, hyperaware of the lack of space for her to sit. The ground was dirty and slightly damp, so that wasn't an option for her to take.
"Just sit there," F/N pointed towards C/N, causing Y/N to frown.
"Where?"
"There!" she was still pointing at C/N, "On his lap!"
Thankfully, Y/N's face was too red from the injury to show any signs of blushing. Still, she became quite flustered and didn't know what to say, whereas C/N remained relatively calm and unbothered. He shrugged lazily, before saying, "You can if you want."
Unable to respond, Y/N found B/N pushing her on to his lap against her will, her flustered appearance obvious to all that were facing her. She froze up when C/N wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her back even further, but after the initial shock she soon melted into his embrace. It was a warming feeling having his chest against her back.
She spent the rest of the evening sat like that, eating s'mores with the others and trying her very best not to act weird. But, as a result of the event, she found herself wide awake at night over-thinking the entire ordeal. She was up before sunrise even came around, sitting outside and staring up at the stars.
A zip sound alerted her of someone coming out of a tent behind her, the golden sun beginning to peek over the horizon in the distance. Y/N could hardly see it over the trees, but she could see the orangey-pink sky above her clearly.
"You're up early, Y/N," the familiar voice of her crush came from behind, "Get a good night's sleep?"
"Not at all..." she sighed, a brief throb flowing through her still-plastered nose.
The movement of grass beside her suggested C/N had sat down, and she confirmed that when glancing to her side. "The sunrise is beautiful," he spoke softly.
"Yeah..."
"Just like you," he grinned, observing Y/N's cheeks dust over pink.
"That's so cheesy..." she lamented, lightly hitting him to cover up her embarrassment.
His grin widened, brief flashes of love shining over his handsome eyes, "You love it though."
Y/N went silent, ducking her head down to hide the smile she couldn't suppress. She heard C/N laugh playfully, before feeling his arm around her shoulders. He pulled her into his side, turning back to the orange sky. The very tip of the glowing ball in the horizons could now be seen over the tree line; the tranquility of the atmosphere allowing a comfortable silence to settle over the pair.
A couple minutes of peace ensued, until C/N broke it by saying in a very gentle voice, "B/N told me you had a crush on me."
"She did what?!" Y/N's tone was a mixture of anger and panic, "That little bi-"
"Calm down, she only told me when she found out I have a crush on you."
"...What...?" her voice cracked partway through the short question.
C/N simply smiled.
