A week-long residential trip of skiing seemed like heaven to sports-loving students. Y/N wasn't one of them, but she was looking forward to the trip nonetheless, as they would be staying in a very cool hotel with little to no other guests. Skiing wasn't a requirement, so she could spend the entire week lounging around as she pleased with her one and only best friend, B/N. She would also get to catch glimpses of C/N, her longtime crush, in a more homely and casual manner than at school.

The thought alone made her smile.

It was the evening, and those who had gone out to ski were returning one by one to the warm and homely common room. The sofas were all in comforting reds and yellows, and the blazing fire was alight in the fireplace in all its glory. Having made herself a steamy mug of hot chocolate, Y/N sat down in front of the fire as she waited for B/N to come downstairs. She was in the shower, warming herself up after nearly getting frostbite out on the mountainous slopes, during which Y/N had been reading in their bedroom. They were, of course, roommates for the trip.

As if she wasn't warm enough, more heat rushed to her cheeks when she heard C/N's voice enter the room, along with C/B/N's. The latter was B/N's boyfriend, which was pretty cool because it gave plentiful opportunities for Y/N to hang around with C/N. She turned around on the settee to see them going upstairs just as B/N was coming down. She greeted her boyfriend with a kiss before plopping herself down beside Y/N with a smile.

"Hey," she grinned.

"Hi."

"There'll probably be a party tonight," she said, leaning back against the plush cushions, "First night, after all..."

"Yeah..."

"Do you- do you think it would be possible for you to stay out of the bedroom for a while?" she suddenly asked, "I- C/B/N and I-"

Cutting her off with a grin, Y/N giggled and said, "Of course."

Smiling gratefully, B/N said, "We're going to- you know- for the first time..."

"That's great, B/N, I'm glad you trust him for this."

It appeared the two boys were very efficient in getting changed, as they soon came down again in relaxed clothing. C/N was was sporting a hoodie and some joggers, which made him look cosy and content. C/B/N immediately made a beeline for B/N with his friend on his tail, sitting down beside her on the sofa. "So, did she agree...?" he instantly asked, to which he earned an eager nod from his girlfriend in response.

Y/N couldn't help but smile at the happy couple, before she turned her attention to the person taking a seat the other side of her. "Hey, Y/N," C/N said with an attractive grin.

"Hi," she mumbled, knowing her cheeks would be somewhat rosy. Thank fuck she could blame it on the fire.

His gaze shifted to the book in her hands, "You annotate the text? That's adorable."

"Oh... yeah... thank you..." she said, trying to suppress a grin as she glanced at her book pages decorated in black pen ink and coloured tabs. Some of the annotations were analyses, others were random funny comments.

When she turned her attention back to her best friend and her boyfriend, she was ashamed to see them heatedly making out. "Ugh, get a room!" she complained, to which she earned muffled sounds in response.

"We may be a while," C/B/N said breathily, picking B/N up and making his way upstairs.

"Looks like I'm out of a room," Y/N sighed, looking back at C/N, "What are you doing tonight?"

"No idea," he replied, just as the room began filling up with fellow students carrying food and drinks. One particular student had a large speaker in hand, already playing pop rave tunes at a very loud volume.

C/N noticed the way Y/N retracted at the sound, so leant over and whispered, "Come on, we can go up to my room... since C/B/N won't be there."

"Thanks," she said with a small smile, following him up to his bedroom that was set out exactly the same as hers: two double beds set against a plain grey wall.

"Here, I have snacks," he opened his suitcase and pulled out a few bags of crisps and sweets, "So... what do you wanna do?"

"I don't know," she yawned, "But I'm tired."

C/N looked around the room in thought, before picking up the book Y/N had brought up with her and crawling into one of the beds. "I'll read to you."

"Oh, okay," she said quietly, getting on the other side of the bed but immediately freezing up, "Shit... I'll get on the other one-"

"It's fine, Y/N," he smiled, patting the space next to him. A little flustered, she moved to where he had patted and slipped under the covers, feeling the warmth of his body next to hers. C/N wrapped an arm around her and squeezed her shoulder gently, beginning to read the book in a soothing voice.

Within ten minutes, Y/N was on the verge of drifting off, but had reached a state of mind where her thoughts were fuzzy and she couldn't think straight. Any embarrassment holding her back was gone, so she nuzzled her nose into the boy's side.

"Tired, huh?" he said, closing the book and putting it on the bedside table.

"Mm," she replied, "Want cuddles."

"You want cuddles?"

She nodded, so he let himself slip down and take her into his arms properly. "Love you," she murmured softly, making C/N grin like crazy.

"I love you too."

And the snacks never got eaten.
