I ran into C/N almost the very second I stepped foot into the sixth form building, and his first sentence to me was, "Hey, Y/N, did you get home safe?"

"I guess...?" I frowned, replaying the events once more, "How did you know I went out yesterday? It was Sunday."

"Oh... you mentioned you were going out on Friday," he said it suspiciously quickly, and I honestly don't recall telling him that, but I had bigger things to worry about, "How are you feeling?"

"Awake," I said, "For once."

"Have you eaten anything today?" he normally doesn't ask so many questions, and stays quite silent. Why is everything suddenly so weird?

"No... I couldn't stomach anything..." I narrowed my eyes suspiciously, "Why are you asking? You don't normally."

"Friends care for each other, right?"

If the bell hadn't rung, I would have definitely pressed further. I didn't see him again until lunchtime, when I was exiting my class and heading on to the concrete area between buildings. C/N came out of the building opposite, hands in his pockets as he made a beeline for me. Just as he reached me, someone not far to my left tripped, which I wouldn't have noticed if my sense of smell hadn't suddenly heightened. Blood. I could strongly smell the blood coming from the poor girl's injured knee.

"Hi-" C/N went to say.

I interrupted, "Why does her blood smell so good?"

"Ah, okay... I think we need to talk..." he said, grabbing my wrist and pulling me round the back of one of buildings where nobody else was.

"What do you mean?"

"Y/N... do you remember anything about last night?"

My mind ticked back to the... assault... and the haziness that came after it, "Yes... why? How did you know something happened?"

"I was there," he said, breathing nervously, "I was the one that fought that... guy..."

"What?!" my eyes widened. I took C/N aback when I wrapped my arms around him tightly, "Thank you so much."

"I-It's fine. I just... there's something else I should tell you..." he trailed off.

"What is it, C/N?"

He shifted his gaze to away from me, "You know how that guy was, um, drinking your blood?" I nodded, shivering slightly. "Yeah, well... this will sound kinda unbelievable... but... he was a vampire..."

My jaw dropped.

"And... I am too..." he sheepishly rubbed the back of his head, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before... I didn't wanna scare you..."

"You- you're- vampire-"

"Yeah... I got bitten when I was four... so my parents are kinda used to this whole thing... I don't really react to the scent of blood anymore..."

"Bitten? But... I got bitten..." realisation dawned on me, "Are you telling me- are you telling me I'm a fucking vampire?!"

"Well, yes," he said shortly.

"But- what- why- how-?"

He shrugged, "I don't know the ins and outs of it, to be honest."

Before I could reply, my tummy grumbled, making a whole range of emotions flash through me, "...I have to drink blood, don't I?"

I watched as he pulled off his bag and opened it to pull out one of those familiar unlabelled juice boxes, "Here... I bet you're starving."

"You're telling me you've been drinking blood all this time?" I stared agape as everything was falling into place.

"That kinda comes with being a vampire..."

"How do you get this blood?" I asked, accepting the carton and sticking the straw into it. I was too hungry to even think about the fact I was about drink actual fucking human blood. Honestly, it tasted so much sweeter than I thought it would.

"Oh... my mum began running a blood bank when it started... so no one dies for me to eat," he smiled, "I'm sure she won't mind providing you a supply."

"What am I gonna tell my parents?"

C/N shrugged, "I don't know... anyway, come on. Your friends will be wondering where you are."

I followed him silently, sipping on my 'juice' box in an oddly calm manner, despite the whirlwind inside my head. "This is... forever..."

"Well, about a thousand years," he said as he rounded the corner, "That's our life expectancy. And we stop ageing around eighteen."

"How do you-"

"Knew an old vampire before they died a couple years ago," he shrugged.

Getting out of dinner that night was difficult, and my mum got so concerned she talked about wanting to phone the doctor. I managed to convince her out of it, but still found myself lying wide awake in bed at midnight. What was the point in even trying to sleep? It's not like I would ever be able to sleep again. A tap sounded on my window, making me look over to see C/N crouched down while expertly perching on my windowsill.

I went over and opened the window to let him in, but he paused, "Can I come in?" I frowned but said yes, to which he hopped over the makeshift threshold. "How're you feeling?"

"Lost. Bored. So many things..." I sighed, "I mean, what the fuck am I supposed to do for the next thousand years?"

"Hang around with me?" he chuckled, "Oh! I brought you a supply of blood boxes."

I accepted them with a thank you, "Is this just it? How it's gonna be?"

"Yeah. Pretty much," he smiled, "But, hey, you've got me?"

Sadness washed over me in contrast to his playful statement, as it was all so unknown and I wasn't sure I wanted to live this way. Before I knew it, tears were streaming down my face in the truckload. Cold hands suddenly cupped my cheeks, forcing me to face upwards and meet C/N's eyes.

"I'm here, to help you through this."

"A thousand years is a long time."

"Still not long enough with you," he muttered.

My eyes widened in shock at his statement.

He smirked, "The only thing stopping me from telling you how I feel was me being a vampire, but now that's no longer an issue... I, well, like you, Y/N."

C/N, my crush, likes me back?! "I... I like you too..."

"Good," he pecked my lips, "Because we're in this for a very long run."
