The heat of the shower, engulfed her as she stood under it, savouring the feeling of the way the water cleansed her off the nightmare of the day before.
She had been in the shower for almost thirty minutes now, just sitting under it, on the chair that Breyanna had offered her, praying for the feeling of oil, the itch of the toxin and the suffocating sensation of the poisonous gas in her system to be just wash away.
"Blue? You okay in there?" she heard Ethan's voice from outside bathroom. She did not find the strength to assure him, as she stood up to dry herself weakly with the towel that the nurse had provided her with. After which, she quickly donned the new set of patient gown which was given to her as well.
"I'm coming in." Ethan said when he did not hear an answer after a prolonged silence. Blue turned to look at him, trying to muster up the best smile she could, but of course he did not buy into it. Hell, even Blue could not convince her ownself if she was to look into the mirror.
"Are you feeling okay? Do you still have any discomfort in your throat?" Ethan asked walking over, fearing that she did not answer him as her throat was still sore. "I'm fine. I was just too tired to answer." She replied honestly, and Ethan shot her a concerned glance. He knew that better than anyone that people may come out of a trauma physically well and maybe without even any scar. But they would be mentally scarred forever, and Blue was not a stranger to that feeling.
His heart ached as he realized just how many traumatic experiences she had gone through in the twenty eight years of her life.
Watching her brother die in front of her own eyes, having to watch a premature baby fight for his life right after his mother had passed away bringing him into the world, literally getting shot for Ethan, almost losing her career which she had worked her whole life for, and now almost losing her own life while trying to save many other people.
Not to mention the complicated love life they had both, mostly him, had forged for them.
Yet, she stood in front of him, having gone through all these ordeals, while still trying to smile for him.
She was Blue Hunter. His Blue.
Blue watched him as well, clad in a white shirt having freshened up himself, after a restless and stressful twenty four hours. Yet, his face was unfairly as handsome as ever. But one would be the blind if they did not see the heavy eyebags under his eyes, the blue of his orbs severely dulled by the exhausted red rimming his pupils. His skin was pale, a few shades lighter than ivory, and his chapped lips told her he was dehydrated beyond despair, as he had stayed up all night working to save her life.
Ethan had saved her life.
He did have a lot of help from the other doctors, but ultimately he was the one who solved the case, and synthesised the antidote.
Blue stared down at the bracelet he had given her, the blue eyed pendant staring back at her in the same way Ethan always protectively did. She felt so safe with it, that she kept it on even while she had been showering. Worldlessly, she walked towards Ethan, and he already had his arms open for her.
He wrapped her into his embrace with no words exchanged with her. Neither of them were crying or expressing anything of sorts. They stood in each other's embrace, just letting the fact that had got through the whole ordeal of yesterday together, settle down on them.
