Time Bomb
"No it wasn't. Not when you're here to make me smile."
_________________________________________The silence of the supply closet was comforting, as Blue rested her head against Ethan's chest.
However, the moment was interupted all too quickly by Ethan's pager.
"Rookie." Blue felt the vibration of his baritone against his chest. "I know." Blue sighed, but still refused to detach herself from him. "You're getting too comfortable " Ethan teased, their inside joke since her first day at Donahue's made an appearance again, making her chuckle.
She finally lifted her head from Ethan's chest, glancing down at his pager. "I need to collect the test results for the team's other patients, and before you ask, no. You're not taking those case loads as well. You see what happened with one patient alone." Ethan told her sternly. "Fine." Blue huffed, staring back at him.
Her eyes travelled to his lips instinctively and Ethan's voice immediately warned, "Rookie." They were on duty, and technically Ethan had already breached so many of his work principles by having her in his arms like this, no matter the situtation. But Blue could not help it, it had already been a few days since she had gone back to her own apartment, and she had missed the way they could freely do whatever they wanted in the privacy of his apartment in that one week.
Blue pouted a little, making Ethan chuckle, but nonetheless she complied, standing up. Ethan followed after her, smoothening out his shirt and coat, before helping her. "How bad do I look on a scale of ten." she asked, wiping the dried tears on her eyes, knowing that the thin layer of mascara she had worn that morning must have smudged on her cheeks too.
"Zero." Ethan said, pulling out his handkerchief from the pocket of his black slacks. "Liar." Blue mumbled, taking the handkerchief from him before wiping her face. "You're right, twelve." Ethan joked making Blue smack his arm playfully, as she laughed.
"There, now with that smile it's back to zero." Ethan grinned, cupping her chin before squeezing both her cheeks with his much larger hand. Blue felt her cheeks visibly turn red, as she pushed Ethan towards the door with a shy shove. "Why are you so flirty today?" she asked, running a hand through her hair to fix it from its messy state.
"Am I now?" Ethan chuckled before opening the door a little, to make sure that no one was outside who could potentially catch them in a compromising situation. "I'll go out first. I'll take over the face-to-face interaction part with your landlord, you can take care of the tests. And Blue...If you need anything, page me, alright?" he told her with a concerned glance.
Blue smiled nodding her head at him, before watching him make his way out.

Later, Blue was walking past the cafeteria when she spotted Esme sitting alone, scribbling furiously in a notebook.
"What are you working on?" Blue asked taking a seat opposite Esme. "I had an idea to help Levi. I want to throw him a little birthday party here at the hospital. I have a lot of ideas, but honestly I've got no clue how to pull any of this together..." Esme replied, sliding her notebook to Blue, where an entire page was filled with notes and ideas.
A slow smile worked its way up Blue's face. Esme really cared about her patients, although Levi clearly means a lot more to her than she lets on, and she saw some exchoes of her ownself in her intern. "Let's do this!" she exclaimed.
"Wait, you'll help?" Esme asked surprised. "Of course. I have not much case load today anyways. Let's divide and conquer. I'll call Levi's hometown friends. You call the party supply store. They'll know what you need." Blue told her. "You're a livesaver." Esme beamed at her. "That is the literal definition of our jobs." Blue winked at her, before standing up to get started on the preparations.
