A few days later, Blue and Ethan stepped out of John F. Kennedy International Airport as planned.

Ethan let out a long exhale of breath as he took in the fresh spring sun of New York City, a place where Blue had spent most of her life in after moving from Brazil when she was close to eight years old.

He stretched out his limbs, though the flight had only been a little over an hour long. After their few days visit to Providence, the both of them had gotten back to Boston to pack for their week long trip to New York. The rest of Blue's roommates seemed to share the same idea of going back to their own respective homes for a little before they knew anything concrete about Edenbrook. She informed her parents, who were more than happy to invite both Blue and Ethan to their house, which was where the former had spent most of her childhood and adolescence in.

Ethan had visited New York before, for medical conferences, a trip during medical school, and even for work related matters. However, stepping foot into the city as a man who was visiting his significant other's childhood home was a completely foreign feeling. It felt almost nerve-wrecking, and yet exciting at the same time.

However, the former feeling vanished when he turned his head to the side, his vision being immeidately occupied by a smile that rivalled the literal sun. Blue had her face tilted up towards the afternoon rays that would be repelling to anyone, but her.

Her eyes were closed, long lashes resting against the tips of her flushed cheekbones, caramel hair framing her face as she adorned the same satisfied smile, clearly happy to be back home after a long time. Everywhere that she went, she always seemed to bring the colour and beauty along with her, even in an already vibrant city.

Ethan leaned down, pressing a light kiss to her nose, waiting for a beat before her eyes fluttered open again, the brilliant emerald shade now half-beaming under the sunlight and half-subdued by his shadow in front of her. "You're happy." he noted.

Her smile widened even more if possible and Ethan had to look away from her for a brief moment to give his heart a break from its incessant beating. He had no idea how she managed to make him feel that way every single time. "I am, it's been more than 2 years since I last came here." she replied. Ethan merely nodded, his eyes still transfixed on every feature of her face, both the sharp and soft contours, still beaming. "What is it? she asked him, noticing his gaze still on her.

"Nothing, you're just beautiful."

Blue rolled her eyes playfully, but Ethan caught the pink flush of her cheeks that was definitely not caused by the blazing sun. Even miles away from Boston, their hands grazed each others in the most cautious manner. A slight brush, a game that they both secretly enjoyed playing, till one of them was brave enough to be bolder. This time it was Ethan, his hand enveloping hers entirely, warmer than the weather.

However, the small bubble that encaved them in that brief moment was interrupted by a familar figure waving at them, Blue specifically.

"Mom!" Blue exclaimed, as her hand left Ethan's when she darted towards her mother who was waiting by a royal blue car. Ethan smiled as he watched her throw herself into Adriana's arms, the two women embracing each other tightly after months of not seeing one another in person.
