Chapter 15~ The Heist

"Need a ride?"

"Are you sure you want to do this? It's not too late to turn back." Ethan asked Blue, the minute he parked at Mass Kenmore.

"We are literally at Kenmore's doorstep Ethan. If we leave back to Edenbrook now, who knows we might not even have an Edenbrook to go back to in a few months." Blue replied. "Alright...but the minute I feel that something is not right, we're getting the hell out of here, okay?" Ethan asked, and Blue nodded.

They got out of his car, before making their way towards the entrance of their rival hospial. Mass Kenmore was a fairly tall building, but it was nowhere near as big and celestial as Edenbrook. The exterior walls were painted in a very light mustard colour, the yellow and red logo of the hospital's crest situated in a gaudy fashion right above the main doors. 'Massachusetts Kenmore' sat in a bold silver, right next to the crest.

Blue fidgeted a little in Ethan's oversized coat, which the latter noticed. He had to bite the corners of his lips to suppress a grin, which disappeared when he caught sight of the security guard that sat at the side of the main door. They had business to attend to.

Ethan leaned down, muttering lowly in her ear, "I don't know how I let you talk me into this." Blue smirked subtely as she turned looked up at him. "'Cause you secretly enjoy our special agent missions...so act natural Agent E!" she whispered back to him. "I am natural." Ethan hissed back. "Are you though?" Blue teased referring back to his very 'subtle' excuse he had unnecessarily given a random doctor when they had sneaked out of the bar right after her hearing, almost an year back.

Ethan supressed the urge to roll his eyes just as they approached the main doors, causing the security guard to look up at them. "I.D please." he told the two doctors. Blue continued walking with Ethan just a little ahead of her. She hoped while her boss was presenting his Edenbrook badge, she would be able to stealthily sneak pass security. Well, at least that was what they had planned in the car, on their way there.

"I'm on the security clearance list. I have research priveleges here." Ethan's baritone sounded sternly as from the corner of his eye he watched Blue inch towards the doors. "So you are. Thank you, Dr. Ramsey." the security guard responded, looking up at Ethan, feeling just a little intimidated by his presence.

Blue was so close to the door, when the security guard called out to her, "Excuse me, Doctor! Ma'am! I need to see your I.D. as well." She turned to face the guard, her heart thumping nervously as she threw a quick panicked glance towards Ethan. "The thing is...I, uh..." she stammered out unable to think of something so quickly. "She's with me, obviously." Ethan quickly inserted, adding a frown to get his point across.

"I'm sorry, but every doctor working here needs to be accounted for, and..." the guard trailed as his eyes caught the 'flirty' smile Blue shot him, in attempts to get the guard to comply. Ethan took noticed of it as he quickly spoke, diverting the guard's attention, "Surely you can look her up, yes? I can't possibly manage my research without a resident on hand to help record the trial data."

"I can do that. What's the name?" the guard replied, tearing his eyes away from Blue and down back to his tablet. "Joan Smith." Ethan said, moving to stand right next to Blue almost protectively. "Smith, smith..." the guard mumbled, scrolling through the staff list on his tablet. "Here she is, Joan Smith, first year resident." the security guard said, tapping on his tablet before looking up to give Blue a rueful smile. "Sorry, Dr. Smith. I couldn't remember seeing you around here, as I clearly would have remembered if I did. My bad, you're clear to go." he told her, and Blue just shot him another of her magawatt smile, before being herded into the hospital by Ethan.
