Aquamarines stayed trained on emeralds for a long moment, as Ethan stared at Blue silently.

"Are you okay?" she asked him.

"How can I be, when you're in this condition?" he replied, his voice shaking a little. "You should try and get some rest. Have you slept at all?" he asked. "No. I can't stop thinking about Bobby, and Danny and Raf if they will be able to make it." she replied honestly, there was no point glossing over her fears. Ethan knew her like the back of his hand.

Ethan grew quiet again, contemplating if he should say what he was about to say for a moment. "...Do you want me to stay with you for a while?" he asked her hesitantly.

"The others won't miss you?" she asked in surprise, knowing that he was the lead doctor in this case. "Tobias knows what he's doing, and Elijah is there too. They would know how to start off the synthesis testing, I'll check in with them later." he told her.

"I know I'll be needed there soon, but...this is where I can do the most good. That is...if you want me here with you." Ethan said gently, his eyes boring into hers.

Blue stared back at him with equal intensity, the possibility that this might be the last night she was going to live through, tormented her mind and heart. Her eyes trailed to the light blue shirt he had changed into after his visit to the compound Travis was kept in. It was almost identical to the shirt he wore on her first day, the first time she had met him. It seemed like her time with him had come a full circle.

"If this is my last night alive, I want to spend it with you." she told him sincerely.

Ethan breathed unsteadily at that possibility, and yet he found himself replying, "If I was in your position. I'd feel the same about you." "Really?" she asked with a pained smile. "Really, Blue." he replied seriously.

Ethan suited up before entering the room, gently guiding her away from the window and back to her bed.

"Now lie down. As impossible as it sounds, you need to try to relax. Think about something happy." Ethan told her, gently helping her lie down as she sinked onto the mattress. He covered her with a blanket, before pulling a chair up to her bedside.

"I'm trying, but...I just feel like there were so many things I should have done..." she responded weakly as she looked up at him. "Like what?" Ethan asked. "I guess..." Blue trailed trying to think of something she had not done before.

She had travelled to a lot of places since young which she deemed as a huge privilege. She had learnt and studied alot, and she was always learning something new with the job she was in. However...she had never really dated. Sure, she had a few crushes here and there during her schooling years, but never once did she really act on it...until Ethan came into her life.

"I wish I had loved more." she confessed. "What do you mean?" Ethan asked in surprise. "I've spent the past decade focusing on college, med school, work, always guarding my heart because I might be in another city the next year." she explained, stopping to meet his eyes, wishing to see the brilliance of their blue hue without the barrier of the plastic. "It makes me wonder...what could have been." she finished.
