"I'll follow you to the ends of the earth Blue Hunter..."

One last week.
Edenbrook had one last week left.
It had been a good last lap of four months.
Blue walked into the clinic with Elijah for yet another shift, when they overheard Sothy with a patient.
"The main thing is preventing a second incident. That means taking your medication every day, and seeing someone if you notice any more symptoms." Sothy said. The patient nodded, clearly grateful.
As the patient left, Sothy turned towards the two residents. Elijah raised his hand in greeting, and Sothy nodded in response.
"Seems like he's doing well." Blue smiled, as she gestured to the intern.
Elijah nodded. "I miss hanging out with him, but no regrets. He's growing up."
"Thanks to you." Blue remarked in response, earning a smile from her friend.
"Hey, isn't tomorrow your birthday? Why don't we get together in the evening, and celebrate with the rest? We can call, Raf, Bryce, Brey, too!" Elijah exclaimed, with an excited gleam despite his clearly exhausted form.
Blue's eyes widened in realization. With everything, she did not even remember that it was her 28th birthday in a day's time.
March 30th
Which also marked her four-month anniversary with Ethan.
"Don't worry about it, with everything going on, we don't have to celebrate at all." Blue replied, partially due to the fact that she wanted to spend the evening with Ethan instead, on their fourth month together.
"Nonsense." Elijah piped, as he wheeled into one of the examination rooms. "We're celebrating tomorrow, and that's final. I'll inform the rest." he said over his shoulder.
For the rest of the day, Blue worked through in a blur, not getting a chance to see Ethan due to his shift being in a different time slot.
That night, she plopped down backwards on her bed, after a long shower, though her muscles still ached. She clicked her phone on, checking the time, which was already 11 P.M.
Ethan had texted her goodnight, an hour ago, making a sigh. She knew that she could not expect him to know, or even remember her birthday, especially with the long shifts and days that have blurred by. Moreover, when it was her birthday the year before, Ethan was in the Amazon, so they never really had a chance to be familiar with that occasion as well.
Soft snores filled the room for the next one hour, as Blue fell asleep, until the light sound was broken by an urgent knock on her bedroom door.
"Go away..." Blue mumbled into her pillow, turning the other side. However, the knock only became even more insistent. Blue let out a loud groan, throwing her covers off her, and checked the time on her phone. It was 11:59 P.M. She sighed, slowly trudging over to the door, knowing that it was probably her friends standing outside to wish her for her birthday like they did a year before, right on the dot.
Just as she opened the door, expecting to see her roommates' faces, all ready to break out into a horrible rendition of the birthday song, she immediately froze.
